SCV (and now BD) are the only organizations to have two corps in the top 25 in the same year.

How soon we forget when the MDCA operated three corps, during which time Southwind nearly joined the Madison Scouts in the top 12. And yes, there once was an organization with two DCI finalists....when YEA! ran Crossmen as well as Cadets.

So.....the State that's produced over half of the World Championships has hosted only one Finals?? .....and that one produced one of the largest gates in recent years. Is a puzzlement!

I actually asked this question before, and found out that it was the 1972 Bleu Raeders, somewhere around 80-85 members, don't remember the hard number. But they were tiny for the time, especially as a merger.

The Bleu Raeders were not a merger....quite the opposite. They were formed when most of the members and staff of the Stardusters split away from that organization after the 1971 season. (Stardusters also competed in 1972.)

The two corps would reunite twice after that....once in 1974 (Regiment Militaire) and again in a permanent 1981 merger (Southernaires).

Hey Boo, didn't Buffalo also host DCI in 2001?

Thank you for the clarification. I had thought it was a merger, since that was commonplace back in the 70s. When did they eventually fold after becoming the Southernaires?

Years corps first made DCI World Championships Finals

(Within years, listed in order of placement)

1999 (39)

Boston Crusaders

Yesterday, a new grand-nephew named Jensen was born. His birth weight was 8 lbs. 8.6 oz. BAC's score on its first Saturday night in 1999 was 88.6. I find this wicked cool - no one else in my family does.
