TESB
Yes, they took the silver last year. All with a 6th place percussion. A single caption will not win you a championship, but it can and will prevent you from getting one. People really need to do the math here instead of scapegoating to percussion every time we talk about what's wrong with Crown. As recently as 2009 they were in 2nd and even if they got perfect twenties last August, they would have still been down a few tenths from first. Captions and their spreads can affect placements in either direction, 08 is a prime example of that, but when a corps ends up down more than a point, there is no point in pointing fingers at any section in particular, there's plenty of responsibility to go around in those cases. Even if this is true, IMO the criticism of percussion is still valid because it's where Crown consistently has the most room for improvement most years. Some of this also can be explained not so much by what also ran finishing Corps did in retrospect here, but what the winning Corps did to essentially be strong across the board in all captions with no relative weakness in any caption. DCI utilizes a build up system of reward points. As such, its not what an also ran unit did NOT do, it is primarily what the winning Corps did by comparison across the board in all the captions that resulted in the final aggregate score. FYI from 2003 to 2012 Crown has improved 11 points from their final scores in 2003.

Crown gets the " Most Improved Award " in the World Class Division for this timeframe.

Could you rephrase the question, as even with my 2nd cup of Java this morning, my brain circuitry does not compute it. What are you asking me again ?
