Yes, they have a slight tilt. Personally, I like the look, always have.

Thats new for Madison.

I’m not sure if it was done for ergonomic reasons, or as part of a “throwback look” for the 75th anniversary. I didn’t think to ask Lee Beddis last weekend. I wish I would have.

A quick question for those of you who have seen the Scouts live this season: Are they tilting their snare drums this year? I've seen a couple of pictures and some of the drums looked tilted.

Yup! Ala Santa Clara Vanguard!

I'm not a big fan of the tilt - simply because no corps has ever managed to get the angle uniform from drummer to drummer. Not going to question it though - that Scouts drumline is smoking this year - their instructors know what they're doing.

I grew up in the sling era, so they all have a tilt.

There have been many many snare lines with slings & perfectly flat drums. 1977 & 1978.

So why no Timpani this year for Madison? Have there been other corps who didnt use Timpani?

I think this started with SCV around 1974. Madison went to that in 1975.

Again, I wish I had thought to ask Lee about this. I will say that from a writing stand point, I did not miss them.

Guessing that made for lots of extra room on the equipment truck!
