2012 DCA World Championships Prelims

They weren't "eliminated" yet. We know they would have been but since they aren't eliminated yet, why eliminate them?

A difference that makes no difference IS NO DIFFERENCE.

It makes no difference that the last three corps haven't gone on. You know, I know, and the rest of the drum corps world knows that the last three corps will not score lower than Bush or Kilties.

Granted, there's a 1 in 5,000,000 shot that Bucs score lower than Bush, but if every single worse-case scenario possible occurred, then there's that chance their outcome & score could be different than how we predict.

You are fruitier than froot loops if you think that could ever happen. :):)

Rule book: The top 10 scoring corps from Open Class prelims advance to Open Class Finals. At this point, there are 9 SCORING corps.

The pass to Finals, at this point, is for the corps that didnt make a score. Bucs, Cabs and MBI.

Seeds or no seeds, by rule, you have to make a score to make finals.

Of course, Cabs, MBI and Bucs get a pass to Finals...that just makes sense. We have enough season long information to make that determination and can do so comfortably.

BUT THE 9 HIGHEST SCORING CORPS should certainly be "in". They went to Prelims. They made a score. It rated in the top 10 of corps at Prelims. Bonus for Kilts and Bush...and a valid enough reason to make it "valid".

Send them through.

Well, to use an analogy, look at today's college football games. Nobody thought Ohio would score within two touchdowns of Penn State. So if college football allowed rainouts, & they just assumed Penn State would kick the snot out of Ohio, then we never would have seen Ohio walk into PSU's stadium & beat them by 10.

Granted, there's a 1 in 5,000,000 shot that Bucs score lower than Bush, but if every single worse-case scenario possible occurred, then there's that chance their outcome & score could be different than how we predict.

To make the DCA formula anology work, the football game would have been cancelled, Ohio U. would have been disqualified, and Penn State would have advanced as they were the favorite and were seeded higher before the competition.

Maybe if they stop playing "rain" songs and switch to Sunriser's Greatest Hits, we'll get a break.

OTOH, good thing it's rain and not snow......can you imagine shoveling snow in this heat ?
