whitedawn
Some people think this will be the future of Drum Corps. Who, exactly? Back on topic, the answer is Cadets 2000.
contrajedi8
I like to offer newbies one to two shows from each decade (of the DCI era) I like to stick with: 1975 Madison Scouts 1976 Blue Devils 1984 Cadets 1989 Santa Clara Vanguard 1994 Blue Devils 1999 SCV 2000 Cadets 2006 Cavaliers and since we are now in a new decade 2011 Cadets 2012 Blue Devils
SaxmanSilver
What? No love for '93 Star yet?! That show is essentially the birth of modern drum corps from a design perspective. Most of what you're seeing on the field from today's corps can be traced back to what Star was doing. The Carolina Crown of today that fans love so much would not exist without Star and fans new to the activity need to be introduced to one of the most iconic shows and hornlines in the history of the activity. SFZFAN
I've only suggested this one a thousand times but 1979 North Star. Is has everything you'd want to see and hear (for a 1979 show)... Not to mention one of the all time best sop screamers in the history of DCI. Do it!
RockyGranite
Who, exactly? Back on topic, the answer is Cadets 2000. Michael Cesario In a Field Pass Podcast this year he said that BK's show was designed to win in 2015.
ajlemm
I'm not sure about "innovative" or any kind of breaking ground, but whenever I get the opportunity to introduce someone to drum corps, it's 2003 Phantom Regiment (Harmonic Journey) or 1988 Madison Scouts (Maleguena). There is something both accessible and ethereal in both of these shows that I have heard many new fans say "this was the show that hooked me for life". fsubone
Crown 2005, 2007, 2011. Can't really get any simpler than those shows. Also try SCV 1989 or Cadets 1995. Very simple, easy to grasp shows. If you want to show them perfection and high standards, go Cavies 2002 or Cadets 2005. If you want loud, screaming brass, go Madison 1975, North Star 1979, or Madison 1999 (yes, I love that show), BD 1999 (mainly for the ballad, how did they just keep playing louder?) If you think they're going to be drummers, show them Cadets 2000 for the drum feature, Bridgemen 1982 (was that the year they played blindfolded?) Madison 1997 Those are just my thoughts, my first drum corps experience was a local, early season show in 2003.
