flammaster
well that would be another reason to do it but more importantly it's just a very signifiant piece of music that they have yet to perform.

Jeff Ream
well that would be another reason to do it but more importantly it's just a very signifiant piece of music that they have yet to perform. and I am sure we'll hear snippets of melody in between the long chords filled with tons of percusion notes underneath
chaos001
and I am sure we'll hear snippets of melody in between the long chords filled with tons of percusion notes underneath And as long as it's difficult and achieved, it will be rewarded. ;)

kdaddy
That's interesting, I too have it on vinyl and from iTunes, and when I begin movement 2/3, its the opening notes of the bassoon solo. I stand corrected on the original vinyl press, which is not the Stravinsky. That's odd that on the iTunes it's not the correct piece, oh well, at least I have the vinyl to listen to the true Bird and Bela. The arrangement of Rite of Spring on both versions, vinyl and iTunes is cool though, so that would be fun if they went that route. I downloaded several Sebesky tunes from emusic a few months ago, and I was surprised to hear Rite during one of the Bird and Bela music. I always assumed it was mislabeled.
