Bigtuba1993 Posted July 26, 2013 Share Posted July 26, 2013 After watching the entire show in San Antonio. I am disappointed in the fact the corp that deserved to win was denied due to one caption. Crowns show has some much more than devils show. Yet, the judging community and DCI are continuously finding new ways to keep someone other than devils, cadets or cavaliers from winning. It is amazing how much of the scores are about politics. Remember Star 93 much better show and cleaner than anything out there, yet politics won. It is ashame that the kids who are performing are the ones who are getting hurt. Give the new kid a chances. But hey I'm sure there are a lot of people who disagree with me. bdlykdad Posted July 26, 2013 Share Posted July 26, 2013 Keep in mind that the percussion score is SUPPOSED to reflect in the overall Music Ensemble score, as well as the Music Effect score. It is better for a corps to score well in all captions. This is how the "perfect" world would work. Lots of great things happening in all the performances this year ..... How much of Carolina Crown's scores in San Antonio do you believe was Politics and how much of it do you believe was Percussion, Bigtuba1993 ? And why ? 3rd Glasgow BB Posted July 26, 2013 Share Posted July 26, 2013 Brass - Crown have an amazing Brass line, last year in my opinion they had the greatest DCI brass line ever.. only time will tell if they can surpass that this year. Visual - This year they are better visually than last year. Unlike last season, I think their drill designer has designed a show that's a little easier to clean. Percussion - 5th place at San Antonio suggests that they're just not good enough. In an aveage year you need to be placing in the top two at least in every caption to take gold on finals night. You can win a caption and still finish lower down the rankings (e.g. Regiment won percussion in 2010 but placed 6th)....... but you can't finish low down in a caption and take gold.
