Jehensley
Meanwhile, World Class corps will be in action in the scenic Smoky Mountain region of Tennessee. Buckeye Brass and Ivory Brigade have been battling back and forth all season, and tonight's show at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga marks another battle between these two young, talented corps. After a few Re-writes and a good rehearsal, The California Knights came out last night and proved once again why they are a perennial Finalist. While we are a CLASS Act and welcome the new guys, Don't forget about the California Knights!
Galen
Definitely not forgetting about ya- I just thought that the rivalry between these two corps that have been battling back and forth all year was particularly noteworthy to highlight tonight. Jhawk
After a few Re-writes and a good rehearsal, The California Knights came out last night and proved once again why they are a perennial Finalist. While we are a CLASS Act and welcome the new guys, Don't forget about the California Knights! You guys had some great Re-writes to pull up as much as you did. I thought for sure that Ivory was gonna take the competition again and you steamrolled out of nowhere.
Galen
Scores from last night's events have been posted and the Sweepstakes standings have been updated to reflect the results of the regional events. Which is just in time for this week's Sweepstakes events! The East coast will be heavy with competing corps today, with the Southern Star Cup, one of our biggest events each year, taking place at its usual home in Brighthouse Stadium in Orlando FL. For once, Star of Jupiter are NOT the favorites heading into their home show, as California Knights and Ohio Valley Thunder have both been topping the standings recently. With OVT absent tonight, California Knights look to stake their claim as a top contender and claim The Knight Sword in the process. Up in New England, the Lowell MA event will be split between 2 venues, due to most of the Open and Class A corps choosing to compete at this event. Open Class corps will compete at Cawley Memorial Stadium in Lowell, while Class A corps will march off at Veterans Stadium in nearby Lawrence. Out west, there's a smaller group of corps competing, but they're just as eager for victory as their Eastern counterparts. Open and Class A corps take the field at the beautiful Titan Stadium in Fullerton CA, while World Class corps will be competing at Glendale Community College's stadium in the Phoenix suburbs. DannyII
The Jacksonville FL event will take place at St. Augustine HS, and will mark the debut of Black Beat NZ, the first corps from New Zealand to compete in DCPI! They'll be welcomed to the US by a strong contingent of top corps, including Star of Jupiter, Quiksilver, Ohio Valley Thunder and Buckeye Brass, among others. Obviously I'm rather pleased with how this event turned out. Great to get a win this late in the season against some perennially strong corps. Here's hoping I can keep this trend going. kdgrush
Great night for the Knights of... org!! All 3 groups score in sweepstakes contest in heavy competitions, including a 1st place win for the Knights of Note and the Knights of Power recaptured the Knight Sword! The Corps are celebrating tonight - with the Knights of Power riding the Rockin roller coster in Disney World, and the other groups going to "Cheers" in Boston! RockEuph
The Avengers presented a stunning performance in their hometown of Orlando to secure our highest Southern Star Cup placement ever and catapult up the rankings. The return tour is turning out to be quite successful. Shout out to our friends at Star of Jupiter who always put on a great show! Taylyn Anastasia
All the Mountain Sound corps have been off their game recently. We're using lots of visual drills and making drastic last minute changes to hope for higher General Effect scores to come. Midnight Vanguard specifically is working to make up for their lost time. However, we are proud to have taken home Regional Silver for Blue Ridge and Bronze for Swannanoa! Both the corps are working even harder to improve their scores for the next events. Go Mountain Sound!
Galen
Caption limits were increased yesterday, and the sweepstakes standings were updated to reflect Saturday's scores. In regard to a few people saying that they have been having difficulty entering caption changes, this is something I think we will need to address in the offseason to increase the number of caption changes during the season, as this has been occurring for a couple of seasons now. But in the meantime, here are today's events: While the turnout at Huntsville AL's Milton Frank Stadium may be rather tiny tonight, fans can expect a great battle between California Knights, Star of Jupiter and Polaris Regiment. Most of the other corps departing from Orlando will be in action at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium in Valdosta GA. Knights of Power look to be the favorite tonight, but they'll have Avengers and Ohio Valley Thunder nipping at their heels, as both of these corps have been making strong pushes in the last third of the season. And out west, Albuquerque's new Community Stadium welcomes Buckeye Brass, Circle City Sound, Nastalgia Vanguard and several other corps. Back east, a bevy of Open Class and Class A corps are competing in the Newark NJ area. Open Class corps will get to test out the soccer-specific Red Bull Arena in Harrison while Class A corps enter the intimate confines of Belleville Municipal Stadium. You can expect a great matchup between Les Blanc Chevaliers, Abracadabra Academy and Nastalgia in Open Class, while Cross, Kaiju Corps and Hoosier Regiment are just a few of the corps taking center stage in Class A competition. Galen
Some really impressive scores last night as several corps edged closer to the 90 point threshold. Here's a look at today's events. At Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville TN, Buckeye Brass step through a time warp after triumphing in Albuquerque last night to try for a repeat in the Volunteer State, but they'll have Avengers nipping at their heels as the race to break 90 heats up. Meanwhile, in at Bulldog Stadium in Opelika AL, California Knights, who are coming off a big win in Huntsville, go head to head with Eruption, who scored their own big win in Valdosta. in the Open/Class A ranks, the hills of western Pennsylvania will be swarming with corps today. Slippery Rock University's Thompson Stadium plays host to the Open Class event while Butler Area HS will open its arms to welcome the Class A corps.
