tim_brandt
Before internet. Hard for people of the 2000s era to comprehend but we didn't have smart phones or computers on tour.... Our entertainment was tapes/CDs coloring books etc.... Pay phones/collect calls/phone cards- that was technology I remember pay phone lines & drum corps world my rookie year in '96. By my age out in '00 a few people had cell phones and we just marveled at them. I remember the few that did took photos on the field @ finals in their uniform on their phone. It was a novelty. This does not seem that long ago. I guess this must be what it feels like to get old??? Edited July 23, 2014 by tim_brandt
George Dixon
I remember coming back from tour abd reading the ol RAMD and the prodigy drum corps bbs/room yup and it was great, and very high-brow... until some crazy person hijacked it... and then, walla - I founded DCP (cue evil laugh)

skevinp
Crown seemed a bit off to me. Vocalists got off to a rough start. Multiple fracks in the ballad again. And colorguard drops at moments that seemed very non-Crown. I wonder why they are suddenly having problems they were not having before. Changes? Nerves? Yips? Illness? Fatigue? year1buick
When I marched in the mid 90's. We didn't have cell phones on tour...barely had a flip phone is we could afford it. Drum Corps World was or only source for scores.I remember waiting in line at pay phones to call back home. I actually enjoyed the isolation that summer tour provided. I didn't have to worry about anything but marching my spot and getting my #### out to the busses on time. Those were the days.(BTW, Your avatar is killing me. Such terrible memories. All we needed was one more #### strike...)

George Dixon
I wonder why they are suddenly having problems they were not having before. Changes? Nerves? Yips? Illness? Fatigue? well I was trying to make a point about the "mental game" in another thread but someone dismissed it! I honestly think the losing is starting to get them down. But I'm probably just projecting.
