SkyRyder_FMM
Phantom Regiment sure doesn't have a ton of money, and they seem to do a LOT with less than other corps. I don't think that what it takes in money; it's the design, then the cleaning of that design that matters most. A lot less than other corps? Perhaps you should peruse the 990 thread before you type. PR spends a lot more than most other organizations that just operate a drum corps as they do. A LOT more.
Drillwatcher
I would disagree. As you can but I felt the drill design was a HUGE weakness for Scouts
general_tsos_chicken2
Crazy idea: KC convinces Jamey Thompson to come to Madison. stop it.
Drillwatcher
Based on Regiment last couple of years not sure that is a great solution

Last I looked, they were one of the poorer corps. Guess I look again and see if my memory is going.

jjeffeory
A lot less than other corps? Perhaps you should peruse the 990 thread before you type. PR spends a lot more than most other organizations that just operate a drum corps as they do. A LOT more. I'm not sure what your point was. I've RECHECKED the 990 thread. I'm not sure what your missive is about. We can not count BD, SCV, or Cadets as they operate more than just a drum corps & they spend a LOT more than PR. PR doesn't spend more than Cavaliers or Crown, but they're in the ball park of Bluecoats. I'm not going to bother to check the 990s of corps placing lower than PR, cause we were talking about top placing corps. What I said holds true: It's not about spending more money as much as it is getting better design and execution. That could be based on spending more money, but it's not a requirement. So, yes Phantom Regiment spends a LOT less than the other top 7 scoring corps EXCEPT for Bluecoats. Now we can get into a debate on what constitutes a LOT, or someone else can figure out the percentages or the actual dollar amounts, but 100m is a lot of money. From that 990 thread that you say I haven't perused: Phantom Regiment Total Revenue 2009: $1,003,230 2010: $1,000,574 2011: $1,002,203 (basically flat across all three years) Total Expenses 2009: $857,099 2010: $957,839 (plus $100,740 [11.8%] from 2009 2011: $991,311 (plus $33,472 [3.5%] from 2010, plus $134,212 [15.7%] from 2009) The Cavaliers Total Revenue 2009: $1,095,584 2010: $1,145,704 (plus $50,121 [4.6%] from 2009) 2011: $1,228,175 (plus $82,471 [7.2%] from 2010, plus $132,591 [12%] from 2009) The Cavaliers Total Expenses 2009: $1,153,734 2010: $1,213,648 (plus $59,914 [5.2%] from 2009 2011: $1,227,237 (plus $13,589 [1.1%] from 2010, plus $73,503 [6.4%] from 2009 Carolina Crown Revenue and Expenses Total Revenue 2009: $1,379,567 2010: $1,482,537 (plus $102,970 [7.5%] from 2009) 2011: $1,586,936 (plus $104,399 [7%] from 2010, plus $207,369 [15%] from 2009 Total Expenses 2009: $1,362,113 2010: $1,489,786 (plus $127,673 [9.4%] from 2009) 2011: $1,588,600 (plus $96,814 [6.5%] from 2010, plus $226,487 [16.6%] from 2009 The Bluecoats Revenue, Expenses, and Net Assets The Bottom Line Total Revenue 2008: $931,205 2009: $835,372 2010: $924,166 Total Expenses 2008: $899,523 2009: $940,712 2010: $958,883 Edited August 26, 2014 by jjeffeory
jjeffeory
A lot less than other corps? Perhaps you should peruse the 990 thread before you type. PR spends a lot more than most other organizations that just operate a drum corps as they do. A LOT more. I'm trying to figure out if we crossed meanings. I should have said that PR doesn't spend a lot of money. ...and they don't seem to spend a lot of money compared to the other top scoring corps, which was my original point. Now I've re-read your response, and it seems like you were answering something slightly different. Phantom's revenue is second lowest in this group, and their expenses are also the least or 2nd least of all the groups in this scoring range. So, they're one of the "poor corps" in this grouping. If you add in Cadets, SCV, and BD, then the numbers look even worse. So, what I said: "they seem to do a LOT with less than other corps. I don't think that what it takes in money; it's the design, then the cleaning of that design that matters most." Holds true. They get a pretty decent bang for their buck.
