MaestroBen
Just wondering, when was the last time Madison had a cymbal line? 2009. It went away for at least some of 2003-2007, was back for 08 and 09, and then went away when Jim Mason came on board.

Kamarag
It's great news *if* they have plans to make significant musical contributions to the show. If it's all visual, why bother?
GUARDLING
It's great news *if* they have plans to make significant musical contributions to the show. If it's all visual, why bother? now you know the answer to that. some will just eat it up, whatever the contribution. Not that I'm not agreeing. Kamarag
like the guard, amiright?!?!?!?! The guard is generally a completely visual element, and isn't billed as anything else. Most cymbal lines of late are billed as musical elements that bring absolutely nothing to the table in terms of music, but rather become a completely visual element, and a distracting one at that.

I have the exact opposite view of cymbal lines, as do many others. Let me add tradition, flavor, visual appeal, musical impact....the list goes on. And I agree that as far as distractions go, field cymbals are WAY down the list of what is happening out there. On a practical note, I can never understand corps that can't fill the ranks of 150 not having cymbal lines.
