NeutralNovice
EDIT: Title was cut off. Original title: It's just about midseason. What are the best and favorite shows of 2015 (so far) and why? By best, I mean the shows you think have a chance at winning it all. By favorite, I mean which shows do love regardless of placement? Here's mine (note: I haven't seen everything yet): Best: Anyone in the Top 5 can win it all. The bottom two (SCV/Crown) probably have their work cut out for them though. Favorites: SCV - I'm a homer. Awesome music for the most part, great drill. BD - I love their selection of music from Into the Woods BK - Loved the show they put on at Stanford---haven't heard their closer yet which will make it even better CC - Music is pretty good, they play extremely well, and have great visuals. drumcorpsfever
Favorite shows: Crown, BD, Bloo Favorite opener: Cadets Favorite ballad: tie - Crown and Bloo Best closer: Still waiting... Favorite uniforms: tie: SCV and Phantom Favorite surprise corps: Troopers Favorite newcomer: Louisiana Stars There will be more. I need to see more corps. I know there's some gems out there yet to be seen. For example, just turning on the DCI Network on Saturday, I heard some great sounds from Colts. I didn't catch their show, but for about a minute of the show I heard was really impressed. I'm looking forward to catching as many of the groups live before season's end. It's still early for me to really be firm about choosing favorites.

wallace
The best show is obvious. It's the Cadets hands down-not even close this year. It's my favorite by far. I'm quite fond of BD's repertoire. Brass is astounding. I like Crown's show except for the Ode to Joy ending. Bluecoats' show is starting to grow on me, but I prefer last year's offering. I'm digging BC, Xmen, and BK as well. StuStu
Cadets have the whole package this year. Straight-forward marching and playing in the best tradition of the corps. The French horn feature brings a beautiful new tone color to the field, the ballad in 10 yards is gorgeous, and the revised ending from the Jeff Saktig Fireworks Company is just sick. Right along with Cadets, though, I am firmly on the Bluecoats' bandwagon. The first time I heard the effects in Indy was mind blowing. The integration of electronics into the show works perfectly with the music they've selected, and the visual fits the music nicely. Also, having heard just the horns and drums in Muncie, I can say the underlying music is SOLID. That may be the loudest horn line I've ever heard, and they have a distinct brass sound. Bluecoats have firmly established themselves as leaders and innovators, and if they win it all this year I will be very happy for them. Have only seen SCV online, but really like what I see. The visual program stands apart from the crowd. I also LOVE the treatment of "Pure Imagination". Hate to sleight Crown, as they have a gorgeous brass sound, with a tone and blend that is second to none. I love their music selections and the the whole program fits together nicely. Blue Devils play and move wonderfully. Not a fan of the show design, though. Edited July 15, 2015 by StuStu
ajlemm
I'll just comment on favorite show, because I am not really in a position to say which "the best" is. 1. Santa Clara Vanguard 1a. Bloooooo 2. Carolina Crown
Tobias
Cadets- best overall package and the chops to perform. Crown-great power and energy. Ode to Joy makes me happy. Bluecoats- I liked last year better but I appreciate their innovation.
