How are they deciding Atlanta line-up?

That's fine Cappy. Just don't let your enthusiasm get carried away. And BE NICE !!

Don't worry about Cappy. He's just playing the DCP game (watch video -- look at recaps -- and then make profound insights based on their interpretation of the numbers.) They don't see the show live. They don't hear what judges actually say to the units (on tape or in critique) and they have no idea what the staff is responding back with. It's a lot like reading tea leaves :-)

They get very upset with the judges when the numbers don't match their expectations.

And they attribute unexpected place changes to "bad runs" by their favorites.

So don't take them too seriously :-) (even if they take themselves a bit too seriously sometimes)

Watching shows and reacting honestly is actually what a good bit of judging is supposed to capture anyway :-)

So keep posting your reactions! They're every bit as valid as any "analysis" you read here.

I wish there was a way to listen in on the tapes or the critiques... I would love to know what is going on in the judges heads

What DrumManTX said...

The troopers have the biggest change from last night. Going on 2.5 hours earlier next week.

Madison's time change may be greater...but in the opposite direction

Tapes can certainly give you an insight to the numbers.

But I don't think you're going to see fan access to tapes. As 'cool' as that might be, there are a mulititude of issues.

Just sit close to the judges at a show or two. I've had the chance to do that in the past and it's pretty ... um .. interesting to hear what some judges have to say about some units.

Agreed....I have a box of tapes from years ago and sometimes their comments don't match the number on the sheets.

As for cappy, thanks for the heads up. For just a minute he made me question my ability to evaluate performances based on what I know, my judges training, and my championship rings. :-)

Never question yourself. Just give a harder rebuttal. ;)
