Bloooooooooooo! Bluecoats Official 2016 Thread

Recommended Posts

personally, I really miss the days when soloists didn't need a mic - half of them don't even play up into the stands anymore or are placed backfield

I personally think all the soloist's using bell mics or standing at a stand mic are a positive. Those that are placed around the field or on props helps visuals I'd say.

I was at Bluecoats' ensemble rehearsal last night. Just a quick update: they are laser focused on cleaning right now, particularly the visual book, and they are making good progress in that regard. Several spots that were highly exposed are looking much tighter now. We will have to wait and see how that translates into scores.

Slide? What slide? Who sez I need a slide in order to fly? Another great photo by Ben Stanfield.

This show is years ahead of the rest of DCI this year. They have the total package and are paving the way a very bright future for their organization and further creativity of DCI. Well done and well deserved Bluecoats!

There are free vids of coats and others from Atlanta on dci.org. After watching the high cam I wonder if the guard members who run to the top of the ramp at the very end will try to spell bluecoats with their bodies?

I just got back from Newark, OH where an estimated 2000 spectators enjoyed Bluecoats' ensemble rehearsal. Once again, the focus was clean, clean, clean. A lot of time was spent on the visual program, as you would expect but a lot of time was also spent in fine tuning the brass, mostly balance issues. It is a good position to be in at this juncture of the year.

Definitely a nice crowd tonight. I was able to see several people I marched with in high school and also got to see several kids I have instructed over the years. I also ran into some former colleagues and got to see one really good drum corps! Looking forward to seeing what will happen in Indy!!!

Thank you to everyone that came out tonight....2,000 folks . One of the coolest things is many had never seen a drum corps live before. Their first drum corps experience was the 2016 Bluecoats. Lives were changed tonight in a good way!

ps The corps had a great time too!
