BRASSO
Drum Corps Genie feels your pain. Its the pain that comes from the bottle, not the Genie that comes out of the bottle. I'd like to see a Corps do a show revolving around the theme of the former TV sitcom... " I Dream of Jeannie ". The visuals could be pretty good, imo. BRASSO
So hard, an my answers would likely shift by the day, too. Here goes: To Listen: 2008 Phantom Regiment 2007 Phantom Regiment 2014 Blue Knights To Watch: 2008 Phantom Regiment 1993 Phantom Regiment 1989 Santa Clara Vanguard harvey ( Toss of the flag.. and a whistle ) Thats a 5 yard penalty.. and loss of down. iIlegal substitution.. too many Corps on the field. Resume play.

2muchcoffeeman
Three championship shows, from back in my day: '81 SCV. For YPGTDC alone, but also because of the honest-to-goodness drum solo; one of the last great concert sets; and a battery that charges the sideline to ram the final notes home. Muy macho. '82 BD. Bloodthirsty. Power and anger polished to smooth, bright blue sheen that grabs you by the throat. The last roar of the titans. '83 Garfield. A new sound. The torch passes; a new era begins. And of course there's Rocky Point Holiday, still the best opener ever put on the field. And a crowd that would not be denied. Individually, each is a great show, though of course they are just three among hundreds worthy of endless replays. Together, however, they document the most significant inflection of DCI's trajectory since its creation. Together, they are a historical document, connected both to the past and the present day. And the diversity of music these champions brought to the field in the span of three seasons perhaps never has been matched in any three-year span since. If you had to listen to three only, you'd be hard pressed to find a more representative sample of marching music. Turn them all up. Way up. jmc5682
2014 Blue Devils 1986 Blue Devils 1987 Santa Clara Vanguard Edit to remove 2008 Phantom, because I did not follow the rules of the post. Three is just so difficult to choose, bit since that is the point I will unabashedly let my west coast bias shine through. perc2100
If you could only listen to/watch only 3 shows the rest of your life, which would they be? Mine would be... 1999 Santa Clara Vanguard - Inventions for a New Millennium 2008 Phantom Regiment - Spartacus 2015 Bluecoats - Kinetic Noise IMPOSSIBLE!! but... * 1993 Cadets - "In the Spring at the Time When Kings Go Off to War" * 1999 SCV - "Inventions for a New Millennium" * 1986 Blue Devils (and this list would likely change hourly, though Cadets 1993 would be the one constant) Edited November 18, 2015 by perc2100
