Cainan
I skipped over a lot of the early corps in the 70's such as freelancers, black knights, guardsmen, etc.\ All of this thanks to http://corpsreps.com/ Um... Freelancers... First time in Finals was 1976. After that we "only" made finals another nine times... most recently in 1992. Pretty insignificant corps to the history of DCI. StuStu
By my count, 40 corps have appeared in the top 12 during DCI's 45 championships. Only 16 are active today.>sniff<

xandandl
What about the Auburn Purple Lancers, the only DCI corps from New York to ever make Finals? weren't they eventually disqualified due to an overaged member? asks this NYer from the other end of the state. Montauk: the beginning.
BRASSO
The following active DCI Corps ( World Class Division ) have all remained in Finals every year after finally making it there ( all are 15 years or more too ) : Santa Clara Vanguard Blue Devils Cadets Phantom Regiment Cavaliers Boston Crusaders Edited August 16, 2016 by BRASSO
N.E. Brigand
Here are first-time finalists each year for both DCA and DCI. Note that in the early years, some corps who were well established might have opted not to participate in the new circuits. [ . . . ] Bold indicates a corps that has won a championship in the top division of DCI or DCA. (Thanks as ever to the Corps Reps website.) 1965 DCA: Reading Buccaneers, Connecticut Hurricanes, New York Skyliners, Yankee Rebels, Interstatesmen, Pittsburgh Rockets [ . . . ] 1981 DCA: Niagara Regionnaires 1981 DCI: Sky Ryders 1982 DCA: Bushwackers, L'Odysee 1982 DCI: none [ . . . ] 1999 DCA: none 1999 DCI: none 2000 DCA: none 2000 DCI: Boston Crusaders [ . . . ] 2016 DCA: none . . . ? 2017 DCI: Academy Skyriders' 1st year was 1982. Boston's 1st year was 1999. Thanks for catching those, which were my errors not Corps Reps'. Now fixed.
StuStu
Cadets first made finals in '75. The finished out of the top 12 in '76, '78, and '79. They have been top 12 ever since. Cavaliers were an original top 12 corps on '72. They missed finals in '73, and again in '78. Otherwise, they've been a consistent top 12 corps.
N.E. Brigand
The following active DCI Corps ( World Class Division ) have all remained in Finals every year after finally making it there ( all are 15 years or more too ) : Santa Clara Vanguard Blue Devils Cadets Phantom Regiment Cavaliers Boston Crusaders I wonder: is that a good thing or a bad thing? It may be worth noting that two of these corps were in and out of Finals before becoming continuous members. Cadets: 1975 -- 11th -- first time in Finals 1976 -- 14th 1977 -- 12th 1978 -- 14th 1979 -- 16th 1980 -- 10th -- in Finals ever since Cavaliers 1972 -- 9th -- first time in Finals 1973 -- 15th 1974 -- 8th 1975 -- 8th 1976 -- 7th 1977 -- 7th 1978 -- 16th 1979 -- 11th -- in Finals ever since Their example plus that of Carolina Crown (first time in Finals 1995, missed Finals 2002) and Bluecoats (first time in Finals 1987, missed Finals 1999) should give hope to corps like Madison: it is possible for a multiple-Finalist corps to miss Finals, come back, and eventually win a championship. Edit: StuStu made the same observation about Cadets and Cavaliers. Edited August 16, 2016 by N.E. Brigand
