I don't have any knowledge specific to this particular show's judging panel, but in the past, shows which are held after the July 4th holiday have been full panels, with the two EXTRA GE judges also added for the various regionals.  So, they actually could be a full panel for this show....

The order of appearance for non-regional shows IS based on last year's finals placements, sort of.  The corps are all in groups of three, but can go on before or after the other two of their group.  For example, last year's 1st/2nd/3rd place corps will always be on after everyone else, but the 3rd place corps could be on after the 1st, etc.  Last year's 10th/11th/12th place corps will always be on early, but the 10th place corps could end up being on before the 12th place, etc.   So the groupings look like this:   1,2,3/4,5,6/7,8,9/10,11,12  and so on. 

This is the reason that as a Boston supporter, I am hoping they are somehow able to climb to 6th.  While going from 12th to 7th would be huge, if they were to pull out a 6th place finish at finals that would set them up in a whole different tier for next year's shows.

7/7 judges/magistrates for the SC  show.  William Stoughton, Thomas Danforth, John Richards, Waitstill Winthrop and Samuel Sewall.  Old group of judges.
