2017 World Championships Finals - Aug 12

Recommended Posts

Interesting mix of old school (2 valve G bugles) and modern (amplified pit section). Drill writing and music selection have also become much more sophisticated over the past few years.

On the Waterfront is the opener. Incredible dynamic shaping by the horns.

Another small but significant sign of the design changes with the Marines - They would never have done any type of lunging until recently.

Great contra feature! Horns now playing backfield, building to a block center of the field.

Marines up next!   I wager they won't have a singer, or amplification.

When the Marines take the field, they TAKE the field!

Mellos really kill it on a unison note before a full brass impact.

Another thing about the Marines is that you know an abnormal space in the form is a missing marcher and not just bad intervals.

Triple dog dare DCI to have the panel judge them.

Against the rules. The horns MUST be 2 valve for the military to consider them bugles. These are custom made Kanstul bugles designed specifically for the Marines.

Does the uniform code really say that? Lol. BTW 2 valve Kanstuls are nice, but 2 valve king contras are the best G contra ever made.

Promise of Living. This is like a Cadets retrospective. On the Waterfront in '86, this in '96.
