SCV hasn't seemingly improved that much score wise since Riverside. Their content is definitely higher than their achievement, which I know is good, but both content and achievement have barely moved at all. I guess this is just due to the absence of BD there at the top as well?

Oh c’mon now, you know “they” can’t have SC placed above Bluecoats this soon!

' Not forgotten back in Boston either. BD got much respect from BAC for that gesture back then too.

I see no one gave commentary yet.  I will do it but not tonight.  I'm just too exhausted.

I'll say something about each show tomorrow but for now let me just say that this is a STRONG year for drum corps.  Every show tonight was hugely entertaining and the crowd was receptive to every corps.

Some scattered thoughts before I sign off and get some much needed sleep:

-It was refreshing to see the Academy performing a concept show.

-I REALLy enjoyed PC's show a lot with the old Hollywood theme.   My favorite from them in awhile.

-BK's brass sounds fantastic this year.

-The hype about Babylon is well-deserved.  Yes, it's a contender and they are already performing the heck out of it.

I'll never forget finals night in 2000 when BD stopped warmup to give us a round of applause as we walked by. Was awesome and tough not to break character in ranks.

We loved Boston's drumline from early 70's.  I think it was 71 in particular that had a really cool drum solo where the snares played isolated beats completely exposed...clean!  It was amazing in it's day.

Boston also had a reputation for being bad a** - regardless of the number of members in the corps, the horns were still loud, the corps always excellent.  BD hadn't yet won a championship, and we respected Boston for their fortitude, which inspired us to push to win.

In honor of that, we wore black Boston T-shirts with the large red Leo.  The shirts were totally cool.  It must have freaked people out seeing our drum line warm up at finals time with Boston shirts.  It was part of the hype.  Helped make us feel invincible.

I only marched BD 3 years, but made it a point to pass on the respect for BAC to the rookies.

That's the story.

When was the last time BAC broke 80 before BD?  Could happen yet.

Because of the time zones each corps is in for tonight's shows, they could have that distinction happen in 12 hours or so.

That would be one of those stats with an asterisk -- but no less valid.  It would be far more interesting if only BAC made the jump to 80 after all the scores are in for today -- a little bragging rights before the machine that is BD hits the next gear.
