But there is a good feeling about the upcoming season. They completed three solid seasons, and have achieved some great things. Boston’s first wave of change has finally crested. No one feels the need to hype or predict. The only things left to know will be evident on the field. In June, we’ll see if they are: - recruiting/retaining the most experienced MMs? - taking artistic risks by creating GE in a variety of unexpected ways? - innovating (and even leading) the activity? These are their next challenges, which are business as usual for the best.
Barneveld
Bridging the generations and the distance, members of two pivotal years of the Boston Crusaders had the unique opportunity to connect over the weekend. On Saturday night, the 80th Anniversary corps consisting of our current 2020 members, and the 50th Anniversary Corps (alumni from the 1990 corps) met over Zoom for a unique history night. With notable alumni......... and many more in attendance, both corps enjoyed an evening of storytelling, nostalgia, and celebration of all things BAC. As the 1990 alumni traded stories of old rivalries, nicknames, and memorable moments on the road, the 2020 members enjoyed learning and interacting with the corps who preceded them. The 2020 members enjoyed hearing from alumni that went on to successful careers in a variety of fields including professional musicians, engineers, medical professionals, and current BAC staff and board members. Impressive attendance, participation and excitement from the 1990 corps, now 30 years removed from the anniversary season, is a testament to the bond that was formed. Even though the 2020 corps will not convene for a traditional history night at Most Precious Blood this summer, we were able to bridge two notable generations and provide a connection that otherwise would not have been possible. https://bostoncrusaders.org/2020/04/bridging-the-generations-and-the-distance/ 5

Barneveld
Quote On Saturday, May 16th, Crusader Nation came together to celebrate our first Giving Day. On what was supposed to be an exciting move-ins weekend, family, friends, and alumni instead joined together virtually to celebrate the corps of past, present, and future. Through a series of live streams throughout the day, the entire Crusader community was able to join together as one and raise over $94,000 from 325 donors to propel the corps into 2021. To kick off Giving Day, festivities began and closed with throwback watch parties on Facebook. Over 12,000 BAC fans tuned in to these livestream parties which featured BAC shows from the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, and 10’s. All day long alums were logging on and reminiscing on summers past. For prime time, Executive Director of the Boston Crusaders Chris Holland took to the internet to kick off the official Giving Day Livestream. Reporting live from BAC’s hometown in Hyde Park, Chris brought fans on a journey through the corps’ recent history while highlighting the strengths, and struggles, of a season off the road. Dozens of key players from the corps history called in to give their own account behind the scenes of the corps’ most pivotal seasons. Thank you to all of the featured guests. In just 24 hours we succeeded our goal of 300 donors! Thanks to the generosity of 325 donors, our final total for our first Giving Day was $94,565! Thank you to all of the donors, both big and small, for helping BAC move into 2021! https://bostoncrusaders.org/2020/05/giving-day-2020-recap/
