Madison Scouts 2023

Top 12 is not going to happen. 15th to 17th is going to happen.

I knew the Crossmen were going to pass them. Their show is so much more complex and well-designed than Madison's. I will be shocked if Madison finishes higher than 16th. So, we are likely seeing them drop a placement from last year.

I am loving the brass this year. They sound great and I like the music. GE and Visual are going to hold them back big time. The guard is just really not up to snuff. Very poor in performance and execution. There's no passion in what they are doing. It's like they are going through the motions. I'd much rather see a dirty and passionate performance than a clean and lackadasical one. Unfortunately, they are dirty and lackadasical.

Agree.  Pacific Crest is making a big push out in CA.  Spirit of Atlanta is also in that 12-16 mix.  Looking at the score sheets, Madison is behind everyone, especially in the Visual category.  I think we're looking at another disappointing year.  Blue Star is just licking their lips, looking at all the talent they will steal from Madison next year.  My crystal ball has Blue Stars in 7th ahead of the Cavies.  If Madison keeps on placing outside of the top 12 year after year, Madison will become a feeder corps for the top 12.  Too many top 12 corps in the Madison area (Cavies, PR, and BS).  Let's hope Madison has a few tricks up their sleeves ... time will only tell with 4 more weeks to finals.

They already are, and that's a huge problem.

I agree on Pacific Crest. They have a legit shot at 12th.

I also don't understand the use of the prop.  I have seen a prop similar to this used much better in high school marching bands.  I do see improvement in the corps; however, I don't see Madison overtaking Crossmen, Pacific Crest, Troopers, Colts, and a couple others.  Too bad the members weren't provided a show with better design.

It's sad and frustrating, but they have been for years.

I don't see a 12-16 mix. I see a 12-13 mix with PC and SOA.

How many current members have full beards? There was more testosterone flowing through guys in the '70s! 😝

Just looked that way being in the top 3. Many were pretty scrawny out of the uniforms.

Or just less attention to personal grooming?  🙃

But that facade was intimidating! 🙃

I will totally own that this might be my own issue, but what is the identity of Madison Scouts?

What makes them unique? What is their niche?  What is their special take that they offer drum corps fans?

In my mind, Madison Scouts used to be the brawny, broad-shouldered, powerful corps.

Now I have no idea who they are.
