Oops you had an empty seat on a bus so you can’t compete. 🤷🏻 I’m thinking more of the lower tier that already has a problem filling spots. 1

That’s who I mostly think of also. Plus corps starting out or trying to rebuild from problems. Was with a corps that had been inactive. Just amazing (sarcasm) how the better we got, the more people wanted to join. Edited May 17, 2023 by JimF-LowBari
greg_orangecounty
Not much, if anything, can be done to lower the cost of food, transportation, insurance, and housing. For everything else, bring in a Marie Kondo type person to help identify what does "not bring joy" and get rid of it to lower costs. I have some suggestions 🙂

That's not true. But, it would require DCI to be a true governing body for the activity. Some examples: 1. Have DCI handle purchases of non-perishable food and supplies for all corps. Given the limited tour schedule, coming up with pick up locations for Spring training and the tour shouldn't be an issue. 2.Have DCI negotiate with fuel suppliers for "fleet" discounts. 3. In N.J. an number of municipalities formed Joint Insurance Funds. Saves towns a lot. Again, DCI could do something similar and handle insuring all corps The "elephant in the room" here is that it would only work if the corps make DCI into a true governing body for the activity. Just don't see it happening.

I knew a kid who went to audition “somewhere”, didn’t make the cut, and he said to them I think I’ll go to Colts. They told him to NOT GO THERE. Omg was I ever ######. I told him to go ahead and go to the Colts. They’re a solid organization and they’ll treat you well. And you’ll eat like a king. Thankfully, he listened to me. Of course, I was thinking of the experience the kid would have. Unlike some self-serving ########.

I was always told to prioritize everything to decide what was most important. So if someone’s priorities are: 1) march dream corps 2) do something else in their life 3) march other corps And if they can’t do #1 and doing #2 kills #3, then so be it. Oh I understood your point. Just wanted to respond to the first sentence. Didn’t do college MB after my first year as just too #### busy with my class load. How many times did I hear crap about not putting band first. 🙄
