Providing brief movement analysis tonight for all colorguards. Enjoy. 😊

Blue Knights

MTS: movement technique/safety, C.: Costuming, PQ: performance quality

MTS:  More softness in plies needed for full safety in bigger jumps. Concerned about floppy feet when point is called for and same with standing, landing leg over all. Strong FSL soloist in opener! Great freebody rifles! Point your front foot in the split, or flex… pick one! Lovely trios with rope and saber. Lots of temps du fleche jumps with no depth or height, this is common in colorguard because there’s no time to teach proper plies. Running soloist with fabric… wish we were still a little more focused on “jazz running.” Either run like a track star or a ballerina, stuff in between appears untrained. Caught some un-extended, not-pointed gesture legs in flagline. Sometimes guard “jetes” or “kicks” higher than is safe for their cores, meaning it looks (and probably feels) strained.

C.: I get the colors and the black “leather” look, but it takes it a little to far in to BDSM imagery for me to feel comfortable in a youth activity. Take the “educational” aspects from the mission and it’s fine. Colors are strong and reflective of corps, love this. The legging/non tapered leg line doesn’t work on all body types but it’s the style now, I suppose.

PQ: Excellent performance quality right away with whip props and interaction with corps, very visible from high cam. Love it. Consistent with corps performance quality from beginning.  Didn’t get much of a read here beyond the opener.

ENJOYED IT BK! CONGRATS ON GETTING HERE!

Just now, gjramsey said:

The people sitting in the end zone seats second level free corps member tickets?

Maybe not. They’ve sold tickets to those sections in the past due to how many people come to Finals.
