Lol that's the best you can you do ?  " I know we are but you are too"  ?  To be fair that probably was true for a couple seasons after the Potter team left but the posts this off season by Crown fans contradict your assertion.  In fact add during season to that assertion.  Do you actually read the Crown thread (just kidding I know you do!) ? No one talks about Boston.  No one cares.  In fact Crown fans mostly talk about  (this is shocking) Crown!  Maybe GrandPa goes rogue on occasion.  But we all have a family member who's a little embarrassing sometimes 🙄

As for 2023 being a huge deviation for Crown....ummm.... I mean they moved up one whole place.  Huge deviation in course.  Year before? 4th.  In fact here's the past 5 seasons: 3,4,4,4,3.  Plot the line.  What course are you talking about?   You're just grasping at straws here.

as i have zero ties to either team....they're right. since the "poaching" in 2017, both sides are fixated on each other. after all....do they go to each others home shows?

it's kinda stupid. remember for designers and staff....it's a payday. and if you're offered a better payday someplace other than where you are, would you turn it down? maybe you need the change? maybe the home team didn't do enough to make you feel wanted enough to stay?

could be a zillion things. and to those of us on neither side, just sitting back and watching, it's comical...and sad.

Since you asked , Boston Crusaders have gone to Carolina Crown ‘s Nightbeat show and other shows there in the Carolina’s every year since Crown ‘s Director there had a fit that he lost his Design team to the Crusaders . Boston went there and competed ( and won there one year ) and everything has been fine each and every season there .

But Carolina Crown has not come to New England for any shows since 2017 . They used to .. most  every season . They would come to shows in Lynn, Lawrence , Bristol RI over the 4th of July weekend . They marched for over a decade in the Wakefield , Ma 4th of July parade where they were given the honor of being the last corps to go by the reviewing stand where they would stop and play 2-3 songs , including shows encore songs . The Massachusetts audience loved them and gave them great applause each year they came .
But now they don’t come anymore to any shows in the Boston region . Why is that ? When asked that question here and about , they claim it’s a “ scheduling issue “ . Really ? Every year now since 2017 it’s been a “ scheduling issue “ that prevents their return to shows in the Boston region ? If so , when did Carolina Crown apparently become a regional corps only ?  2017 ?
Boston had Mandarins , Bluecoats , Phantom Regiment , Cadets come to their shows last season and Crusaders had their biggest attendance in many years at their shows. Every Corps there was entertaining and got great applause . So few fans in Boston region are “ fixated “ on Crown’s apparent “ scheduling “ travel issues they say they have there . BostonCrusaders  will continue to go and compete in the Carolina ‘s as they always have .

Best of success to Carolina Crown in 2024 . It appears they have lost a couple of design staff and a CEO there after this season . This happens . It’s not unusual . Carolina Crown has done quite well for themselves since 2017,  I saw a few Crusaders alums that even congratulated them here on DCP for medaling this season . Corps that medal and / or have have key staff turnover naturally have conversations about that in the off season . Nothing new under the sun with that , imo.

So … back to the thread topic … any news on staff additions or changes anybody here has heard about the last few days ?…..

In 2017, Crown competed in early season shows at Beanpot and Cranston (formerly Bristol). It was rumored they were not going to compete in the BAC show that usually took place at the time that depending on who you ask was either cancelled because Crown and Cadets would not compete (Crown version) or not scheduled because BAC was doing a different tour (Boston Crusaders version). Carolina Crown competed in East Coast Classic and Beanpot in 2018 and placed 2nd in both shows and in 2019 they competed in CYO Nationals tribute and placed 1st. They have come to New England and have competed in Boston Crusaders shows.

the reasons are well known to those who want to know, but don't want to necessarily air dirty laundry on here....and some folks don't want to know because they eat what is fed to them.

maybe those folks should get sent a bill trying to guilt them into paying for knowledge

People will poo-poo this but the run back to Boston after the BOA clinic sucked.   Crown loved doing the parades on the 4th and all but remember there were also YEA shows to soften the blow and they just don't exist anymore.  Also Crown now does two more clinics after BOA -- one in the ATL area and then one at WCU.    It's actually a much better schedule than hauling ### to Boston and then heading towards to FirstBeat.   So whatever the initial reasons for the change (and yes they were petty and childish) ,  the current tour schedule works way better for them.  I don't see them going back.

never said the schedule change was bad. just the petty issues.

look staff change. lets be real here....look at Cadets 16. if another corps asked if you staff was interested....would you stay there??? Money or no....if it were me...hell no!

not every decision is made solely for money. and "poaching" is such a #### word to use...staff have left to go other places since the bgeinning of time. But i'll ask again....if things were so great where someone was....why would they leave? trust me, my employer sucks some days to the point of wanting to dust off the resume. but, despite offers of more money, more this, more that....in the end i have stayed ( for now). Why? because more money doesn't always solve everything. But if the right offer came along...not necessarily money, but culture, environment...yeah i may jump.

the corporate world pays people a lot of money to go out and headhunt. Why should drum corps demand fealty and absolute loyalty to stay with one organization just because?

so yeah people left Cadets and Crown to go to Boston. Crown is still and has been in the hunt. Cadets are working their way up but lets be honest, their issues were far more off the field than on field. Hell they're luckily to still be in existence. Gino and Colin leaving didn't cause that.
