Colts 2024: On Fields

Recommended Posts

So much of life happens beneath our feet in places where we share our common experiences — the field. From the playground to the harvest, much joy is shared, and hard work rewarded, on the fields where we soak in the riches of life. The gravity of the battlefield and the cemeteries where we visit lives lost all play into the tapestry of the human experience. Each spring reminds us of the opportunity for new growth, and the circle continues…on another field in a new, yet familiar way.

"Our 2024 show idea started as an homage to the place our community calls home, The Field," said Program Coordinator Don Click. "The idea grew to include fields of all kinds as we began to see that so many of life’s events — whether epic or playful or intimate — take place on a field."

The Colts take you on a poignant journey with their 2024 production, On Fields, by connecting contemporary pieces with some of our activity’s cherished favorites. Our program is distinctively Colts and characteristically portrayed in four unique experiences that encompass the divergence of life:

Field Day
“Fields of Joy” by the New York Rock Ensemble
“MacArthur Park” by Jimmy Webb

Harvest
“Fields of Gold” by Sting
“Autumn Leaves” by Joseph Kosma

Battlefield
An original composition by CJ Barrow, Josh Nelson and Michael J. Miller

Seeds Of Love
“First Circle” by Pat Metheny
“Strawberry Fields Forever” by John Lennon
“Sowing the Seeds of Love” by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith (Tears For Fears)

We reap
We sow
We love
We fly
We play
We fight
We live
We die

Sounds intriguing and it's definitely Iowa.

Are Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta and James Earl Jones going to make a cameo?

Oh we get First Circle back on the field!

Also, they should have stole Bloo's thunder and just gone and called it "Agriculture".

Props if Colts come out with souvies that have their logo and "agriculture" on them for the tour.

Honestly. Any part of this pit arranging and I'll be losing my mind for their closing.

I was able to check out a little bit of spring training the other day, and it seems like it may shape up to be another very strong year! See, I’m fully capable of being sober minded without dropping the universally irritating cliches such as, “watch out for Colts this year!!!”, or “this ain’t your mommas Colts!” 😁😁😁
