Jaw dropping visuals in History

Recommended Posts

Suncoast's Viet Nam memorial in 84, with the crosses in front.

Ok, you got me with this one. I got goose bumps just reading that. It's been more than 20 years and I still get the shivers thinking about it.

Zingali z-pull, 1983 Cadets.

Troopers sunburst, any year it's been really clean (except the silent one, don't remember which year. Just felt wrong to me.)

The 1992 Holsinger show by Cadets with the flying guard members. Also, the guard move followed by the most amazing and beautiful low brass chord I think I've ever heard on the field. (memory is shot, could even be the same move?)

Whatever year it was that Cavies did their first "wave" formations. Blew me away, and I knew something new had finally hit the field.

SCV show with Shostakovich.... gah, can't remember. Old age! But the move was a block that hustled like crazy with a line passing through the middle. That makes no sense, I'm sure, but it sticks in my memory.

That's all I can think of in the 5 minutes I've got for reading and posting right now.

Someone mentioned this recently in the "Old School Color Guard" thread and it fits here, as well: the Troopers rifle exchange around the drum major. Those girls were great and I doubt they ever missed, but the drum major must have had nerves of steel. I replay that move over and over when I watch the '79 Legacy DVD.

Agree with the moments already mentioned.

I especially loved all those guard moves with rifle/flag tosses over each other, or in some case the horn line, from the late 70's and early 80's!

91 Cavies the line that comes to life like, looks like a sound wave.

2000 Cavies the diamond cut drill to the end.

99 SCV the the triangles coming together (both times, but especially the final one).

Thanks to those who stuck to the OP and didn't include drill moves as "Visuals"

One could include the Vanguard Pose in the cymbal/drum line ... or the gesture at the end of the Opener in 89. The Phantom crab in 93..... their intense halt position...... and you can't forget the BD Bong.

He did...and sometimes had to..

In 1980 they added a drop back after the original by 2's..and then all 12 toss AT THE SAME TIME.

Always clean...well, almost.

There were two shows in a row where John got nailed...I will not say where...by the same person. (Yes, you are thinking correctly.) He somehow completed the show both times. We saw the tape the next day...and it took awhile for the guys to catch their breath.

He made it clear...if it happened a third time, he would pull his weapon.

It never happened again.
