MJN
Wrong kind of horn - From what I recall, it was a horn from the pit - like, the kind with a squeezy rubber ball on the end; something you might find on a bike in the 50's or 60's Whatever it was - it sounded like a##

jjeffeory
What you're referring to, I believe is the honking horn that preceeded the 4 Cavalier stingers - it was on purpose & I interpreted it as a little jab at the Cavies. The corps/tunes that I heard quoted are: - SCV - Phantom (of the Opera) - Sky Ryders - Wizard of Oz (Sky had 2 Oz shows in the 80's) - Madison - Slaughter - Devils - Johnny One Note - Cadets - Les Miz - Cavies - last 4 notes of 88/89 The arranging was very clever tieing all these tunes together. I also heard "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star... Probably a refrence to Star of Indiana. Edited April 12, 2007 by jjeffeory

81regiment
I still don't hear Oz, where is it... It's at the beginning of Carnival..."We're off to see the Wizard" is right after the SCV "Phantom of the Opera" quote... The car horn was in the pit. The four notes from Cavies is the tag from "Gloria".

Actually, Johnny One Note covered 2 corps. The Bluecoats played it in 89 as well. But I'm sure everyone remembers that. Oh, now that's subtle. Only until I listened closely...otherwise, I was just hearing what would have been 'off to see the zard!' I wasn't hearing the 'wiz' note...interesting... Great sop feature in Sing, Sing Sing, too.
