FaustianMachine Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 So yeah, basically asking for ideas of what you would want to see on the field next year. Music, title, concept, whatever. A few titles I've been thinking of Boston Crusaders: Thy Will Be Done Bluecoats: The Trial (since they have the police background) Carolina Crown: Th3rd Time's a Charm The Cavaliers: Deus Ex Machina Glassmen: Shards of Glass - The Music of Phillip Glass Phantom Regiment: Carmina Burana Santa Clara Vanguard: V for Vanguard Quote

Hrothgar15 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Cadets do a show that doesn't have silly characters as the focal point, PLEASE! Seriously! They haven't done that since what, a full year ago? Quote
SynthLine09 Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I really enjoyed Phantoms very conceptual driven show...beautiful music as well. I'd love to see a similar idea from them next year with completely different music. Maybe something a little darker? I think the Blue Stars should stick with their darker/more mature show concepts as well. Man that show worked well for them Blue Knights...more of the same! Quote
skywhopper Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Two or three corps should do musical-based shows--other than West Side Story that is. There've been rumors of Crown resurrecting The Music Man. Les Mis would be a crowd-pleaser. South Pacific, Bye Bye Birdie, Annie, Grease, Chicago all have great tunes. One or two should do some "challenging" art music. Something that doesn't fit the drum corps template. BD and SCV were the closest this year, but I think they could push the envelope further, however I'd like BD to sit this one out, maybe leave that role for Phantom or Boston. I'd like to see Blue Devils do a straight-up hard-swinging crowd-pleaser of a show. No props, no story, no theme. Crown should revisit the Finis idea but bigger. Mash up the past 40 years of DCI into 13 minutes of total insanity. Copy music, drill, props, anything and everything. Take those amazing blended arrangements of Claire de Lune/One Hand One Heart and Somewhere/Somewhere Over the Rainbow and take it up times 10. Rocky Point Holiday, Malaguena, Channel One Suite, Appalachian Spring, Phantom of the Opera, Thunder and Blazes, When a Man Loves a Woman, Sabre Dance, Firebird, The Planets, Trittico, First Circle, American in Paris, Russian Christmas Music. Call it "A Drum Corps Fan's Nightmare". Quote

However, Scott Stewart was able to get permission in 2009 for the Kilties to play several movements from this classic piece. Quote
