Hopefully, Pacific Crest gets some of the kids from BDB and SCVC that want to do more than a regional tour. Again, A DCI HOF'er told me this winter they guarantee Madison will make finals.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "Drill". 2000-2004 was a drill. This is staging. Michael Gaines is pretty good at that too.

I don't think Bluecoats winning would be a shocker and Vanguard repeating would surprise no one. Bostons whole staff has and knows how to win Championships. Crown was so close in every caption ( top 3 in Brass and drums) except visual. You know you're going to correct that this year.

Bluecoats, Santa Clara, Boston, Crown are equal to Blue Devils. They are no longer "The Field" The question is who out of this group will finish first last. Blue Devils are always good but they haven't won Guard or Percussion since 2015, haven't won Brass since 2014 and got shut out of all Captions last year. Devils will be up there just not a strong favorite. But who knows, each year is different.

My 2019 Picks- I don't know. My 2018 Picks: Posted May 31, 2018 Devils Have a slightly better than good chance to win. If this was a Threepeat year I'd put them in 2nd or 3rd. (2nd) SCV, Has a good chance to win. Awesome show last year but, that was last year. Added drill writing god to their staff. Should be good! (1st) Crown, Has a good chance to win. now the percussion situation fixed. Always great brass, Excellent color guard, and show design god. puts them up there. (4th) Bluecoats, Have a good chance to win. Can't wait to see what their brilliant design team come up with this year. Saw It! BLUECOATS ARE FIYAH! (3rd) Cavaliers, Has been steadily improving I see them as the 5th C in the Carolina, Concord, Canton, Clara crowd (6th) Boston, Should be better but, How much better? Top 3 better? (5th) Cadets, After the recent scandal and change of schedule and show restructuring, I have no clue. I'm sure the staff and Alumni will motivate the kids to be their best. Their staff is good enough to pull off something in the top 6. How will the judges react? (7th) Bk, Very entertaining shows lately. Can they top 5 in captions? (9th) Phantom, has always been a wait and see corps for me. they can land anywhere 5-10. (11th) Blue Stars, are where BK used to be a couple of years ago, floating between 8 -11 (8th) Madison, IMO had the ugliest show in drum corps last year but, it got them back into the finals. (16th) Crossmen, I thought Xmen were better than their scores showed all last year (12th) Mandarin, I thought Mandarin should have made finals over Madison ( no hate for Madison ) (10th) Academy, I always root for Academy to make finals (15th) Colts, I always root for Academy to make finals (14th)

So subjective. Some corps have 12 All-Time Shows by themselves. You got shows that pushed the envelope as far as design You got shows that pushed the envelope as far as music You got groundbreaking guard work You got your corps that earned 4 and 5 standing ovations You got shows so beautiful they made you cry I'll have to think about this one

One year the corps I picked to come first, Folded. One year the corps I picked to come in second came in 8th. Once the corps I picked third came in 9th. Once the corps I picked fourth came in 7th. Once the corps I picked fifth came in 1st. Once the corps I picked sixth came in 2nd. Once the corps I picked seventh came in 3rd. Once the corps I picked eighth came in 3rd. Once the corps I picked ninth came in 5th. Once the corps I picked tenth Folded. Once the corps I picked eleventh Folded Six times I picked the top 7 correctly. Once I picked the top 12 in order. 2019 Picks: I have no Idea.

I was like you until last month. ( not 1 episode ) then I binge watched all 7 seasons and now I'm caught up with season 8. It's worth a watch. Great stories, great characters.

I was working a Band show this Fall and a DCI HOF'er guaranteed me that Madison Scouts are going to make finals.

I don't know about that, I was there the whole summer. We did have a lot of injuries and that show had quite a few changes but it took a very strong corps to get thru that summer.

I'm glad this finally came out. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Very cool project with a super cool group of musicians. The kids in the Bluecoats enjoyed performing with TYS. I know I enjoyed watching them put this together. And, hopefully, a few people who would not have otherwise looked at Drumcorps or the Bluecoats will gain respect for the activity we love.

I think it's been a mixed bag. There was a big reaction due to years of handling things, in-house/ behind the scenes. Then some common sense policies were put in place kind of awkwardly. Followed by people being over cautious and overly apologetic over the conversations and things we used to think of as harmless. Cons- I've seen people on tour known for being the life of the party year after year,( guaranteed to put a smile on your face.) Totally shut down because someone overheard an off-color comment. The mixed company he was talking to was totally entertained by his jokes. The passerby was offended. - I see people preface everything with a disclaimer Pros- I like that the new rules put the idiots on notice and those people with impulse control issues, 1 strike you're out! I'm very happy young men and women feel they can safely report indiscretions when they occur.

2003 Spin Cycle- The most difficult marching show in drum corps history. I was mesmerized. I even wrote the marching staff to tell them how much I appreciated the show. They should have won on content alone. My favorite Cavaliers show of all time. More later, I'm spending more time here than working.

We also have these crazy things called cell phones. Drum corps members no longer line up at Telephone booths. Don't you hate that the price of a call went from a dime to a quarter? Just messing with ya. I marched in the '70s too! The change was gradual. I remember each year more girls were joining the brass and percussion lines. I thought, Boy, They must have chops! They did. By the late '80s early '90s, it was commonplace. You'll notice more women soloist too. Even Carolina Crown who have had some of the best brass lines in recent drum corps history featured an all-female brass segment in their show in 2018. But then again, I marched in Canada ( Etobicoke Oakland Crusaders) in the '70s. We were ahead of the curve when it came to female brass players.

2005 The Zone- That corps was Excellent. Aungst's drumline was so good, they sang their parts and still took percussion. I remember the percussion section cutting practice short for an ice cream break. ( the whole corps actually) That Brass line was impeccable, Gino had them believing they could do anything. I saw the guard and front ensemble working on the ballad together in Allentown a week before finals. I stood there mesmerized. Sully wrote a groundbreaking show that year. The only corps to sweep every caption and sub-caption. 1987 Appalachian spring -This is my favorite Cadet show of all time. I remember the chills I got seeing it live at finals, much like the chills I'm getting now thinking about it. Beautiful, Powerful music, Dissolving company front, Gold Medal and a perfect drum score to boot. Wow! 2000 We are the Future- Some people say this show was all about the ending. I say it was the awesome music and marching in the beginning and middle. The ending was the cherry on top of a delicious show. 2007 This I Believe- This show holds a special place in my heart. This Cadet corps was really good. A group of kids that had to be strong in the face critics that were adverse to change (vocals) in drum corps. This corps blazed a trail of wins through the west coast, performed great through the idiots that Boo'd during semi-finals and performed spectacularly during finals. This show should have won. 1993 In the Springtime When Kings go off to War- At the time I said 1993 was a battle of the best of what drum corps is and what drum corps will be in the future. I loved this show. Fast paced high energy, Powerful and guard that took visual interpretation to the next level. Oh, and that ballad! 2011 Between Angels and Demons- I never seen a bunch of young people enjoy a drum corps show so much in all my years in the activity. Watching the show evolve, the joy of the performers, and the payoff at the end. What a ride. A side note: The corps did a west coast tour that year. I had a bad taste in my mouth from 2007 and was ready to beat the breaks off of the first sign of negativity. The folks on the West coast were as nice and welcoming as they could be. Knocked that chip right off my shoulder. 1991 ABC's of Modern American Music- I never thought The Cadets could pull off 'Short ride in a fast machine' but my hats off to the percussion arranger. They did! The ballad was a beautiful story well interpreted by the color guard which also cleansed your pallet for the wild Ballz to the Wallz ending. 1991 was an exceptional year for drum corps a year before or after this show would have placed higher. 2010 West Side Story- This arrangement of WSS was sick! The guard was incredible and if not for a weird 1 point drop in percussion from semi's to finals they would have placed higher. This was my favorite version of WSS sonically and visually in all my years of drum corps. 1983 Rocky Point/Mass- A corps that would not be denied! The Cadets started the season clean and well prepared and ended with their first championship and a first for an east coast corps. That brass line was killing it! I can still visualize the crowd chanting EAST! EAST! EAST! 1998 Stonehenge- I never really liked this show for some strange reason. I remember during the 1998 season saying The Cadets will probably win because of content and execution but I didn't like it then. Because of this thread, I watched it again and again. ( about 5 times straight) Wow! what a GREAT show! It took 20 years but, I came around. 2006 Volume 2: Through the Looking Glass- I picked this show because of what it brought to drum corps. I remember the critics/trolls on Drum Corps Planet and REC.ARTS. mercilessly ripping this show. I remember saying " In a few years your corps will be doing the same thing" It took more than a few years but as you look back on that show you see the impact they made on today's drum corps. As I look back this was probably one of the Cadets most talented corps but that show was a bear to handle. I was in charge of props that year. whoa! 12. 1982 * Rocky Point Holiday * Cuban Overture * Concerto in F- For personal reasons, I add this show. I have a few stories: For as long as I can remember, before every play I performed in elementary school, every boxing and jujitsu match, every marching band and drum corps show, I would take a deep breath, hold it as long as I could, Release, Perform. Prelims morning in Montreal was exceptionally hot. The Cadets back then wore wool uniforms with lined insulated jackets. Anyway, I took a deep breath, held it, and blacked out. I woke up in Concerto in F with my horn down everybody else's horn was up. I marched most of the show on muscle memory. The Next night I remember it being exceptional cold, I remember the snow flurries during "warm-ups" I remember the corps being ON. I remember me being ON. I could hear everything around me, and see the spacing between me and the next person in every set. I was so in tune with the show and everything around me. I remember during the final company front in Gershwins Concerto in F being overcome with emotion and tears streaming down my face and the EMT people asking if I was OK as the corps marched off the field. WOW! Honorable Mentions: 2012 12.25- I hate Christmas, I hate Christmas music. I love this show. Note: The slow march segment in the opener, The brass is marching slowly with some fancy lower body movement on the left side of the field. On the right side, the percussion is playing and marching crazy drill like it's 1993. What an awesome effect! And that kaleidoscopic Sactig Ending. I hate Christmas music. I love this show! 2018 Boston Crusaders- Just Kidding. I love that show. Great Organization, awesome people. 2017 The Faithful, The Fallen, The Forgiven- I absolutely love what The Cadets Tried to do with this show. The costuming and props were on point. I loved the arrangements. I only wish there was a little Angels and Demons action in the Fallen section. I guess they never got my email. 2018 The Unity Project- First. When I saw the uniforms on Facebook I made fun of the design. ( I was wrong, It worked on the field and lot's of people love it.) When I first saw the corps in Akron, Ohio, I thought "Oh My God The Cadets are Awful This Year" I have never said that ever since I first saw them one June day in New Jersey back in 75. My friend Irving ( Fan of the Arts) Told me how the corps was trying to find the right balance of hard work and rest ( something rare in Cadetland) and by Atlanta, I could see the clarity in the show. The hard work was paying off. I remember during finals as the mellophones did that familiar run and the Z-Pull started to unravel, my heart filled as the young man in the traditional Cadet uniform appeared, I stood there clapping with tears in my eyes and what had been oblivious to me all season I heard loud and clear. " Ladies and Gentlemen, Under the direction of Scott Litzenburg, The Cadets!" A new era has Begun. Oh, and 1985 because it was F****** Awesome!

It's now in the hands of the courts. For you to come here and troll this thread is stupid. You offered no new information, no insight, just your narrow opinion on how we should feel about past Cadet corps. I'm asking the moderators to consider taking Stu's comments from this thread and placing them on the threads that deal with his concerns. I've worn the Maroon and Gold, I've worked for, volunteered and given thousands of hours of blood, sweat, and tears to the Cadets. I have very strong feelings about the events that lead up to the change of directors. There are many Topics and post about that. This thread is not the place.

Just because we are sticking to TOPIC doesn't make us "dishonest". Your point was noted and even discussed in several TOPICS a few months back.
