I got excited for a second that we might be talking about a John Carpenter show.

He was one of the directors at Reagan when my daughter marched there and also wrote their 2019 drill when they won BOA San Antonio with a record high score. (And he’s a Regiment alum! He was on staff there for quite a few years as well.) Super cool and talented guy and the kids all loved him. (I believe 2020 was his last year at Reagan.) He’s a great pick up for them.

Definitely G7. Boston’s show was cool.

In the history of Worst Ideas Ever, G7 ranks right up there with New Coke, Cop Rock and the Hindenburg.

From the corps’ August 4 Organizational Update: “Vanguard Music and Performing Arts (VMAPA) is in a much healthier place than where we were at the end of the 2022 tour. The organization has achieved its short-term fiscal goals of returning to current status with all vendors and is steadily working toward restoring our capital and endowment fund. This strategy has aided in the ability of the organization to not only consider a return for 2024 but to do so with an eye on ensuring our business model is sustainable into the future. Our accountants are also working closely with the Operations Team to complete our audits and meet our extended deadlines.” Umm…I hope they’re working on that quickly. This second notice seems to make this statement seem even more like an attempt to blow smoke up our collective derrières. I still hope they can get their #### together, because DCI is better with SCV in it.

As a Rangers fan, I know full well that some times you’re the bug, others the windshield. Besides the fact that I’ve heard nothing but good things about the experience their members have, who knows where they’ll be in the coming years? (Not that I’m saying that’s their goal- I have no idea as an outsider.) Seems like a weird thing for the OP to rant about.

I’m not going to discount what you heard up high, but I was down on the 8th row, 50 yard line at Denton and didn’t get any sense of Regiment projecting the hornline out of speakers. All I experienced was “real”, hair parting (well, if you still have yours) wall of sound. Even in SA, where I was at the front of the upper deck (still good position), I still didn’t get that impression. 🤷‍♂️

Well, I know which one is Opal’s favorite. (She jumped off my lap and ran up to the TV to check out Regiment.) Mine too, Opal.

My home theater sub (a cheap one- one day to be replaced!) doesn’t even come close, LOL. They’re 250ohm so I really need to run them off my dedicated amp/DAC to get the most out of them but I’m usually to lazy to go into my office room to do it. (9 times out of 10 I just pop in my AirPod Pros which, although super convenient, barely even compare.)

My watch freaked out during Crown: I dug it too. Regiment was my favorite (shocking) but Crown was next for me although BAC was close. (Just personal favorites, not a comment on who I think is “better.”) I really dug Bloo mostly from the trombone feature on but their show is great too. ALL the corps were amazing. This was my first open stadium show in probably 20 years and I am SO glad we went. My son (a 19yo drum corps newbie) and I had a great time! Now on to SA!
