  1. You know what? Misnomers and improper classifications aside (just let it go...), I think the OP was just trying to say "What do you think about Glassmen, Blue Stars, Blue Knights, Crossmen, Boston Crusaders, Madison, Spirit and Troopers shows?" Give OP some credit--trying to start chatter about some other corps aside form the usual suspects. Don't jump down his throat because he forgot a corps or jumped a placement. So, what do you think about those shows, and any others aside from the current top 7? Pretend BD, HNC, SCV, Bloo, PR, CC, and Cavies took a year off. Go.
  2. Anyone else see anything on the fan network that they think is indicative of placement?
  3. Provided it doesn't get hijacked or too mean-spirited, this gets my vote for thread of the week! Here's my contribution: Colts: Early 90s Toyota Camry? Not flashy, not ugly, not sexy, but you know it will do what it's supposed to do, year in and year out. Forever. Any good?
  4. I love these threads because it's basically the "wear your allegiance on your sleeve" thread. I will not participate, but encourage others to do so--I enjoy public opinion. Disagree with me? Good--if it's an educated guess, cite references, i.e. "I think INT is gonna kick butt, because in the INT drumline video, you can clearly see a blend of Ketchup and Mustard's writing, and the kids look older and more solid, even on the ends of the line." Not hating or trolling--as I said, I enjoy reading these threads...probably more than any threads aside from show reviews.
  5. Is there anything else up on the Fan Network? I don't have a subscription.
  6. Dude--go easy--it's obviously a patch on the inside of the jacket--more of a hype for the kids. Seems cool.
  7. I had some trouble as well yesterday--make sure you have the newest version of Flash installed--give that a shot.
  8. Hey, I don't want to stir the pot of old vs. new, but do you think scoring jumps with the tick system were more common than with the current system? Even during the same season, there seemed to have been more abrupt placement shifts back in the day. You know what I mean? I don't think it's possible that a corps could go from 20th to 6th in today's DCI. Can you imagine?
  9. Bozz, it's definitely a mark of success when you move from being patted on the head condescendingly ("What a nice show you've got--good luck this year!") to being challenged at your every move. ("BS are doing what? That's lame--go back to Div II!!!") Thicken up that skin, and you guys will be in good shape! Good luck with the show--sounds like it will tug on our heartstrings.
  10. "Boston used to be very hardcore" Boston also used to not be in finals... However, this is a Blue Stars Show Announcement thread. Your observation about the staff similarities between Weinstein-era Boston and current BS is spot on, and I'm surprised more people aren't making that connection. Boston 2002 anyone?
  11. Not to stir the pot, but perhaps this is decent proof that general opinion on DCP is not the barometer of the drum corps public. We like to think we're an accurate representation of the fans, but we're really just a wacky subset.
  12. @ mn_trumpeter_guy: Don't let CorpsMan97 speak for New England folks...He/she is just using the Aungst/BS thread to hijack it into a "Boston Crusaders left Boston" thread. Doesn't look like there's any Blue Stars negativity--just looking for an excuse to bring up the MA/FL debate again. @ CorpsMan97: I humbly suggest you start another thread if you'd like to open up that discussion, or better yet, contact the Crusaders and offer your help and suggestions for New England recruitment. As for Aungst @ Blue Stars, the topic of this thread, can anyone honestly say it's not a good move? Don't think so.
  13. 2008 Post-Finals DCI Resignations/Staff Changes Tom Aungst - The Cadets battery arranger, percussion caption head Neil Larrivee - The Cadets front ensemble arranger Mike McIntosh - Bluecoats music coordinator and battery arranger Jeff Pearson - Santa Clara Vanguard corps director Eric Sabach - Blue Stars corps director Adam Sage - Phantom Regiment color guard caption head Richard Saucedo - Cavaliers brass arranger Jennifer Leseth - Carolina Crown color guard caption head Bozzly--not arguing with you about your team (good get!), just wondering who that leaves at "status quo." I guess we can subtract the names above to get my answer--it was more of a rhetorical question.
  14. Great review, and thanks, but this just made me laugh! Hilarious!
  15. I have to call you out on an ignorant and erroneous statement. There are a couple big things wrong with your post: First of all, she was not judging 'field visual.' There are no field visual judges right now. She was judging ensemble vis, a caption in which the Crusaders beat the Cadets earlier in the week, and only lost to Cadets by .3 last night. Her score does *not* jive with the judges' score from the previous night. However they did get dumped in another visual caption last night, incidentally one in which they also beat the Cadets a couple times earlier in the week. All those errors aside, they went from a 15.5 to a 12.4 in one night, in a *non-performance* caption. GE doesn't typically go down from night to night. Performance and execution does, but the composition and the repertoire doesn't just tale a nose dive.
  16. Yeah, I swear, they always seem to stand in some sort of square, with straight lines left and right and up and down...and they also always make one straight line across the field and come forward. Man, those drill moves are old and boring... Woops, my sarcasm button was stuck on.
  17. Did anyone else think this said "Steaks in Drum Corps?"
  18. Yeah, that timpani lick is ridiculous! The rest of the clip is pretty good, too!
