  1. Cadets were phenomenal tonight! So impressed with this corps and this show! Well done!
  2. Genesis really projected their sound well to the box (I’m 3 rows from the top). Nice performance! Very enjoyable.
  3. Oh really? That’s news to me and I’m sitting here in their ensemble rehearsal at Salisbury.
  4. I was planning on driving to Hamburg this afternoon to catch some BD rehearsal (a yearly tradition for me and my son!), but the weather is looking ominous...
  5. Any restrictions on bringing in food and beverages into J. Birney Crum? It's been 3 years since I've been to Eastern Classic. (I know no glass bottles and no alcohol...)
  6. Lititz/Lancaster, PA. Agree with the sentiments above. A lot of the narration was completely lost in the audio mix. I couldn't hear any of Boston's narration, not even "she must burn." Same with Cavies - I heard the punch line of that joke, something about a face, but nothing prior to that.
  7. I don't want to think about a show designer's intentions that much in order to understand it. Sorry.
  8. Agreed, total buzzkill and just confusing. Everyone in my theatre last night was scratching their heads (even the parents of some Crown members who hadn't seen the new ending yet). I want to be left with a blow-your-face-off Crown brass sound! (sans synth...)
  9. Saw Crown in the theatre last night and I have a question regarding their ending. Does the final chord transition from 100% brass to 100% electronics? Or was this just the mixing for the theatre broadcast? I had trouble deciphering whether it was a purposeful synth doubling of the chord versus a "futuristic" transition.
  10. Catching up from last night. I'm a long time DCP reader, but an infrequent poster. I agree with you, George. I'm scratching my head over their scoring and placement. I've been following The Cadets (among others) very closely this year. I have no personal connection to Cadets except that they are the corps that initially got me interested in drum corps as a young lad. Saw the show in the theatre last night and it blew me away. I was engaged the entire time. It was one of the few shows that I felt ended too quickly! The changes they've made over the last several weeks have really helped.
  11. I agree with you on several fronts. The sound mix in the theatre was garbage. I could barely make out some of the voice overs (especially Boston and Cavies). Keyboards were extremely loud. Synths were overpowering. Snares sounded like they were doubled. Serious question: Does Crown's last chord start with 100% brass and evolve into 100% electronics? It sounded that way in the theatre. I was pleasantly surprised by Blue Stars. Brass sound was incredible! I was also totally entranced by The Cadets. It pulled me in from the beginning and I was engaged till the very end. Crown's vocalist blends in nicely. It has grown on me as the season progressed. I still don't like "No One" or the ending. SCV was incredible. Love this show, despite the mic'ed brass BD has room to improve after tonight, which is scary. This is their first show in the last 5 years that I could listen to on repeat for 12 straight hours. All in all, a very enjoyable night at the theatre for Quarterfinals. Well done, DCI.
  12. In the theatre, Boston had MAJOR balance issues with electronics, voice, spoken segments. Barely audible.
  13. Lititz, PA - first time at this location (typically go to the Harrisburg theatre)
  14. This is my first time seeing Cadets this year and I have no idea what is going on with the statue theme. I know it's been said already, but now O see it firsthand.
  15. Can't believe the amount of time I just wasted reading through this thread. So much bickering, so little of any value. Longtime Cadets supporter here who doesn't post frequently. The title "Stoned" leaves a lot to be desired and I share the sentiments that this is a gimmick/double entendre. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
  16. BD's electronics WAY too loud. Drowned out the entire snare line at one point and the soloist at another point.
  17. Lost it in the first 30 seconds. A horn player picked it up.
  18. At the Regal in Harrisburg, PA. Missed the first minute of Academy, but otherwise no issues here. Nice crowd, very respectful. Sound in the theatre is phenomenal.
