Music City's 2011 Show is "Let's Dance!"
Dir_en_X replied to MusicCityDrumCorps's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
Ditto, all the corps members I met were extremely nice and carried themselves well. -
Also during the 'silent' weapon feature he screamed, "YOU BETTA GET IT!!!" I died hearing that.

Open Class Finals on Fan Network...?

They are available for purchase today as a bundle or individual shows. -
Thank you everyone for your kind words. As an alumnus of the band, it was/is completely shocking to get the news from current members. Mr. Parks was an amazing man that defined the word passion and was so many things to so many people. I can't even begin to imagine what the current members of the band are going through. Mr. Parks will live on through his students and his teachings and anyone that came into contact with him.

Open Class Finals on Fan Network...?
Dir_en_X replied to SoJ518's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
I would think that if there was a DVD of OC Finals, there wouldn't really be a need for it to also be on the Fan Network. But since the decision was made to not release a DVD and go the digital download route, I would think they would use Finals for that. I know I'd be ###### if it was the Semis video instead. -

Here's a pic of the ageouts right before the ceremony that my dad snapped. I think everyone is there. ETA: This is right after we finished the slow-motion wave. Funniest part of the night.

I only marched in Open Class, but it was said to my section that there are two motivators: Fear and Pride. Fear motivates you by making you think "If I mess this up the staff will make us I'll run/do pushups/be held over for a meal/get yelled at." Pride motivates you to not make errors because you have the idea in your head that you are a member of Corps X and Corps X has a tradition of passionate members that wouldn't let their on or off field responsibilities slack. In total I think I was punished 3 times by running or other physical workouts. All the other times I ran was for morning run or for conditioning in sectionals. (IE play, run, play, run)

Don't forget that great Ice cream place right next to the field! That was the highlight of the show for me. -
I heard that Boston is going to be in Quincy for the week. Unfortunately I am busy all week and can't make it to see them. Just means that I'll have to wait till a show.

Co-sign. Suppose Johnny Hornblower marches a summer with Corps X. Loves the activity, but maybe the atmosphere of the corps isn't for him. Could be the personality of the corps, method of teaching, issues with other members, etc. Whatever the reason, if Johnny Hornblower (or Suzy Spinner or Teddy Drummer) isn't happy with the corps they march with, who is to say they should stay? If they move to Corps Y or Z and love it there, odds are they will march there again.

The drummer for the band 311 marched Sky Riders I believe.

These two are my goals this year. Along with having the most and best antics in the corps.

Because what place you come in at Finals determines how good of a program the corps provides. -
If your kids were going to march
Dir_en_X replied to MisterA's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Assuming that I have kids and they when old enough want to march, I'd want them to join whatever corps they want. Would I like it if they marched with the corps I did? Yes. Would I like them to join a corps like Santa Clara or The Cadets that are known for how the instruct their members on and off the field? Yes. But most of all I want them to be happy and have summers that they'll remember forever, no matter who they march for, Academy to VK. -
