Hey guys. There's a new PIO indoor line starting up in Knoxville, TN called Blackoak Independent. This weekend is our FIRST audition weekend! Agree 110%! Being a percussionist, I think the percussion books are starting to get WAY too thick. As far as the guards go, I like it MUCH better than the way it used to be. Makes the shows very interesting.

I would also look at Blue Stars and Madison, both have upgraded their staff this year, and are set for GREAT seasons!

Let me clarify that the corps I auditioned for WAS NOT Phantom, although it was a Top 5 corps.

Don't set your sights on just once corps, audition for 2 or three. That is my only regret when I auditioned, I was short sighted and auditioned for a single corps. Got cut in the last round of auditions, found out I was 2 spots away from making it. :blink: :blink:

I went and tried out for a corps and on the first camp they gave you a number 1-4: 1: Your in 2: Your on the bubble 3: You got a chance 4: Most likely not, but keep coming back if you want After that they started cutting people, so the techs would take everyone individually into a room and tell them what was up. I was told that I most likely wouldn't make it but was more than welcome to come back for a few more camps if i wanted to.

Alot of corps do this for there 8's exercise because it is more relaxing. I know I have my drumline do it because of this reason. The whole point of the 8's exercise is to loosen up, so the more relaxed your body the better the warm up you will get. Now we only do it for 8's, the rest of our exercises are done marking time.

I agree, all drum corps should play the same exact composition of every piece of music. No no no!!!! It would not get boring...

How about people holding up cameras in the middle of performances? Phantom is coming onto the field, and two people decide to sit infront of me and my friends for the performance. So, right as Phantom is announced, then both pull out cameras and start recording. So, me and my friends are like "whatever...." and let them do their thing. They then proceed to hold their camera above their heads infront of our faces. So I lean up and politely ask them to put the cameras down. Then she starts taking pictures with her flash on, and starts holding the camera up again. So i then lean up and turn her camera off for her. They then moved to their seats and left us alone for the rest of the night. Atlanta had the WORST crowd ive ever been to.
