  1. Hey, I found me ! 2nd Contra from the right or 2nd tallest ! And did I look good !
  2. You stopped in Topeka, and didn't even say HI ? Be glad you didn't venture too far east of your hotel ! Not the safest area of town.
  3. 1980 Spirit. Hands down. I was on the field, shooting for DCW at the time. The energy and emotion coming from those kids was off the scale.
  4. DONE ! and has now been bookmarked on my env3 ! Thank you ! Glad I have unlimited data !
  5. In Topeka, we suffered from nasty digital tileing during the Cadets and BD. It evoked from one viewer, "did you get this at CD Tradepost ?" Several cries of "we paid $12.50 for this ?" Almost all of us confronted the manager, led by a FMM of the Cavies from the 60's about it and they issued what looked to me as refunds to all that attended. I know I got my $50.00 back. The manager blamed "satellite problems" I work at a TV station no more than a quarter mile from the theatre, and know sat fade, that was not sat fade, unless they weren't using enough bandwidth. I talked with a friend who saw the show in Lawrence only 30 miles away, and they had no problems (all 8 people in the theatre). I hope they get things straightened out before Quarters.
  6. But, but, but...there's a football team on the field
  7. I concur with "Scouttimp" I have been informed of the same info. The school is north of Worlds of Fun...hmmm...off day ideas ? What I have seen of the school/stadium through Google Earth looks nice.
  8. No venue listed yet for the 7/19 KC Mo show yet. Have heard it may be on the Kansas side. Any insight ? Kinda strange a show in KC AND Wichita on the same night.
  9. Can't wait to see them and everybody else in KC in July. (hey Jeff, heard anything about where the KC show will be held ?)
  10. We did that in '77 (Silver Sabres) and the night before in the dorms at Northern Michigan State for DCI North (Ypsilanti sp?)
  11. They had been top twelve prior, but the year Argonne did the "Star Spangled Banner" (ok, it was a cheap standing O !)
  12. As far back as 1973, Explorer Posts were allowed to be co-ed. The Post I belonged to was one of them.
  13. I had one I wore under my uniform for all major shows bitd. Had a picture of a cartoon contra player, with an arm coming out of the bell. The hand was shaking hands with the player, and captioned "The Friendly Contra" I think it came from the Blue Knights way back when !! Also had one that our lead baritone player and I had made. Right before Am Leg prelims in '77, some "expert" came in and re-wrote the last couple of minutes of the show. He commented "The corps takes it prettiest girls, teaches them the spin a rifle, and sticks them out in front of the corps. Nothing I like better than a tight rifle line." We took that and ran with a shirt "Happiness is a right rifle" and in very small print below that "line" We both got slugged the first time we wore them !
  14. We did a version, ala Bob James, back in 1977. (Salina Silver Sabres)
  15. What is GE ? The mythical DCI Rule Book says "GE is ______ (fill in the blank with techno-pyscho-babble)" To me, GE is that moment when you say to yourself, "DAYAM!" * It's that moment when you "want to throw babies !" It's that moment of the Kiltie Swing. It's that spot in an old Cavalier's show where they do the step-over. It's that time where '08 PR does the "4th Kill !" It's that time where Argonne does the Star Spangled Banner in a push to the front sideline (cheap standing O !) GE is that WOW moment in the show ! * $1 to Gabriel Iglesias !
  16. I'm pumped for 4 shows within 3 hours of me. 2 in Kansas (Wichita/Hutchinson) 1 in KC, MO, and 1 in Omaha. KC is only about an hour away. I am hoping for Arrowhead, but will prob be some big high school. Wichita and KCMO show on the same night...KCMO has the bigger lineup ! MAYBE this year I will break out of my rut !
  17. Exactly ! Just do it, you will create memories that last a lifetime, no matter WHO you march with !
  18. I vote for the spats. I mean, if every MLB/NFL team can go to "throwback" uniforms, why can't drum corps ? I agree that the current judging community probably didn't experience the days of yore, but change is good. (for the most part !)
  19. What about Union Pacific from Nebraska. Trying to recall if they and Railmen one in the same ?
  20. '81 Sky Ryders did a nice job with that ! BTW Slaughter for the win !!
