  1. I'm not reading through 17 pages of material, but I did get about halfway. I really don't think this video depicts the members of the corps at all. The MediaBox is just trying to come up with something epic. I'm sure they didn't expect the backlash, but many people could have foreseen that. There's also nothing with bragging about wins, but they do really play on the "disappointment of defeat" part of it. I'll be honest though, I'm sure the members work very hard not to get "defeated" again, so that works for them. To each his own.
  2. Didn't find anything related to the Boston Crusaders there, but they did post it on their Facebook later. Saw the show. Very impressed with the hornline. They've got volume! Gotta make sure they don't blow out of tune while blowing their brains out though. We'll see if they can sound this good on the field, but from what I saw, I was very very happy. The percussion was impressive as well, but still has some early season dirt. It's to be expected. Also seemed to be a few first show jitters, but overall I thought the drumline was awesome as well. I think people will remember the "break from the blues band" more than the blues band itself. I know I would. But hey, I'm very biased.
  3. Really? I really want to go, but can't find it anywhere on their website.
  4. Their Facebook has more details. I believe they're doing ensemble 8-10 every day until they move out. That's probably happening pretty soon.
  5. It may depend on which theater you're in, but in mine, every corps sounded fantastic. Besides the obvious late releases or early attacks, everything was great. But some recordings are kind of like magic, all the dirt goes away.
  6. They don't need to be mic'd, it's just playing it safer. I personally love an unmic'd solo that is loud as hell, and can come out over the hornline. Granted, when the hornline is on the front sideline playing FFF, I would understand the need. But even then, the trumpet solos in Crossmen 2004 were LOUD. There's many other examples. Some players may need a mic, but you've got to be able to play a solo loud if you're in drum corps.
  7. I think from now to 5 days from now is when all the corps get it finished up. Just in time for their family day performances. BD doesn't have their closer finished yet. But they are doing a standstill recording today!
  8. Such an awesome group. Thanks for making me spend the next hour or so going through all of their videos.
  9. That is too bad. But I appreciate the help everyone. fromthepressbox is on favorites now, and forever. Great website, especially for the past 10 years.
  10. Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I couldn't find anything. I remember that there's a website where you can find all of the past scores from each season, and each show in that season. It shouldn't be that hard to look up! Thanks to anyone who knows.
  11. You wanna know what's crazy? I work in Folsom, CA as a pizza delivery driver. I heard what I thought was the school's marching band the other night. They sounded absolutely amazing! Then I noticed that it wasn't the usual time for bands to have camp. I thought, maybe it was the Mandarins? But no, it's Boston. From the other side of the country. Right near where I live. I learned this from the one minute line in the field pass that mentioned Folsom. It's officially drum corps season. I've heard my first corps. Well, not actually. But still.
  12. I remember that BD didn't get their new drums in '07 until June, so they did some exhibitions with the old blue and black godfather drums. I'd imagine that's what's going on with Cavies, but those drums do match the uniform very well in my opinion.
  13. I think it's very safe to say that they will be in the top 4, considering they have been consistently. I haven't seen anything from them this year, so I can't make any accurate predictions about that. But I wouldn't be surprised if they do very very well, they probably attracted a lot of people with last year's show.
  14. I think your post was much more pointless than his was, so.... why did you even post? Anyways, I remember last year that more recordings came out in early June. Probably around this week or the next week of last year, so if things haven't changed (which they probably have), we should be seeing some very soon!
  15. There's definitely younger people in corps that don't place as high as others. Many 14 and 15 year olds. Opinions aside, those corps are usually stepping stones for those young people. When they get older, they go elsewhere.
  16. Am I the only one that thinks that "the norm" only happened in 2010? I don't really see any of their shows being overly cut up, besides 2010. That's once. I've heard a few of the productions BD has played this year. Granted there is some chop and bop, I think it goes better than it did in 2010.
  17. Any idea what they will be doing for the clinic anyone?
  18. Any guesses as to what the tuba soli will be? My first guess, although I could be completely wrong, is this
  19. The show that I've been listening to the most is Phantom 2010. Amazing percussion writing. That tenor solo is technically amazing, and I LOVE the energy from the drumline at the end of the opener. So awesome.
  20. Unmasqued really seems to fit Bluecoats. Better than I thought "A Brave New World" did. It seems to me to be most similar to "Criminal" out of all the shows they've done.
