  1. Yeah, but they're having rehearsals in Michigan and are trying to draw a lot of their membership from the American side.
  2. Everyone knows what happened to Cap Sound, but I think the real question is what have they been preparing for during this year off? Though it doesn't completely relate to Cap Sound as a drum corps, I read in their home show ad journal that they are going to put out an indoor drumline (Capital Rhythm) and a winterguard (Capital Motion) along with their corps. Expect to see great things from the organization in the coming years!
  3. Forgive me for asking, but what were the problems in 06? I started marching in 07 and I have no idea what happened in previous years besides the shows. If you don't want to post it here just send me a PM please.
  4. My corps fed another corps once, but I don't know if it was because they really needed it or we were just being friendly (the other corps had food, but it wasn't as good as ours. Also from what I've heard the two corps have had very good relations for a long time). It really shocks me that this has happened before. I think I'd cry if I ever saw a corps that had no food at all!
  5. CC is in the Catskills right? If that's true, than the Raiders would be the closest junior corps. They're very nice people there, you should contact Tom Maiello and see if he can lend a hand!
  6. INT jokes are funny when added randomly into unrelated threads, but this is just a total waste of effort.
  7. Well it's kinda hard without a koto, shamisen, or a shakuhachi (if you don't know what I'm talking about look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_instruments) If you take a look at that link, you'll notice that there are virtually NO BRASS INSTRUMENTS in Japanese culture. In fact that entire list is pretty much made up of flutes and string instruments, so obviously a drum corps can't possibly recreate traditional Japanese music perfectly! However, despite those limitations I think they did a very nice job. They managed to take a historic genre and add a Cavalier spin without completely destroying it, and that's very hard to do! By the way, this is coming from a guy that listens to this kind of stuff in addition to watcing a buttload of samurai anime (there was a time long before I started marching.....)
  8. Does anybody know where I can get this costume? Halloween's right around the corner!
  9. 1. 1991 Cadets 2. 2003 SCV 3. 2003 Phantom 4. 1994 BD 5. 2006 Bluecoats 6. 2001 Cavaliers 7. 1996 Madison Scouts 8. 2007 Carolina Crown (I would've said 2008 instead, but you said you already had those APDs)
  10. My band does it and ENFORCES IT. After coming back from my rookie year of drum corps I wore it the right way for a few shows until my section complained and my band director yelled at me for doing it "wrong". He also told me to push the shako back so it doesn't cover my eyes! I know I shouldn't correct my band director, but that's just ****ed up!
  11. I think that's the funniest one so far! But in all seriousness, this is DCP. Lighten up. By the way, I have friends in The Cadets.
  12. I know a guy that marches at Purdue! He has a shirt with this drum on it, but I always thought it was just a fictional symbol.
  13. Most of the Surf's current membership is made up of people who want a World-sized experience with an Open Class tour schedule. When Surf goes World, they will have to follow a more rigorous tour schedule. Their current members will mostly go to other Open Class corps or DCA, and the Surf itself will get a whole new member base of people looking for the full World Class experience. Placement wise, I'd throw them somewhere in the top tier of Semifinals at best, slowing growing over the years into a well-respected World Class finalist like most corps that make the jump.
  14. Preston Scout House's guard uniforms. Ok it's not DCI, but WTF!?!?!
  15. This year's finals seemed to be more mixed than previous years. Spokane, Citations, and OC were mixed into the top tier with all the 100+ member corps, and yet there were still some large corps that didn't make it to finals. Overall, I think any prejudice that was previously given to smaller corps has been eliminated in the judging system. Great start!
  16. Why did the Blue Stars get rid of their trademark helmets? Granted the shakos look a little bit better, but what about tradition? Or they could've at least waited another year before making the change. Le tour - helmets = WTF
  17. What about Bluecoats 2007? You know what I'm talking about...
  18. I actually just saw a trailer on DCI.org for a movie with that name. It's a fictional story about a girl who wants to join the guard of a championship corps (the credits underneath the link I clicked say it's SCV, but for the movie's purposes it could be portrayed as a fictional corps. Who knows?) Anyway, here's the link: http://www.dci.org/about/advertise/otsl.cfm
  19. I'm a HUGE Zelda fan and I don't think I've ever heard that one. I'm not gonna lie, it would take a little bit of tweaking and arranging to make any Zelda tune not sound repetitive or too short. Just about any video game song can be found in midi format at vgmusic.com (though all of them are fan-made, most of them come very close to the originals). Get your examples there.
  20. Dot marching to learn the show, form marching to clean it.
  21. Just put those corps into whatever they were last year. Though from what I understand, most of the corps that were in the middle last year either have more or less than that now.
  22. To answer your question with an appropriate answer, sort all of the Open Class corps into two categories: those with 80+ members, and those with less than 80. Then figure out which of the ones with less than 80 has the highest score. Voila!
  23. About 3 marching bands in my area did The Nightmare Before Christmas last year. Some unusual ingredients are required to make it work right (one of the schools chose a tall, skinny guy as their DM and dressed him up as Jack Skellington, and as they marched onto the field he spun his baton ferociously). I think the Raiders in Div. III did Carmina Burana at one point. Not sure, though. I don't know how well The Producers and Mama Mia would work on the field. I've seen one marching band do Rent and it was god awful.
