  1. Same here MM. Christian was amazing, his arranging...well he arranged for my high school but really wasn't that great. Well good but not Ryan George/Klesch/etc good
  2. Tony dungy sounds like a Freddy Martin. And I love Freddy Martin :D
  3. It's a shame JD is gone. His music blew my mind. As for Christian Carichner...he would make a great caption head.
  4. I spent this past summer with The Academy, and I had a blast. We had a phenomenal season and I am very proud to have been a member of the 2011 corps. Last year I had a rough season, between fundraising 3400 to march and barely making it financially as well as a broken foot and other permanent injuries. It might not be a smart idea to march again, but what got me into drum corps was BDs 2005 show. I remember thinking that that's where I wanted to be. I have 6 years of corps left and I most likely won't march all of them. I'm trying to decide if this next season is a good idea. I love the blue devils, but...I don't know anything about the organization itself, I just love the way they march and play. Can any BD alum or really anyone tell me a little bit more about them and the blue devils experience, as well as the physical requirements specific to the corps (PT, sleep) so I know what I may or may not be getting myself into?
  5. In az I went to four theatres an hour and a half befor it started. 3 sold out and we got the last seats in tehe 4th theatre.
  6. I don't know... I guess that at least in my opinion academy may not have a completely full tour but I don't think it's limited, at least not to the point where members have anything against it. I don't see taking a week and a half off as a big offense...there are community performances and all that. I just think it's a pretty smart move financially and competitively (in some ways)
  7. I guess why I'm trying to say is that aren't the division placements made by the skill of the corps, not what they can/can't afford or whether or not thy choose to take time off of tour to better themselves. I mean I could understand like if they only toured for only the last 2 weeks or something. But academy does do a lot of the tour. Plus extra rehearsal time helps with filling holes, big show changes, and cleans a lot (Which benefits everybody IMO)
  8. Holy blue devils. Minus the props, I absolutely love this show!!!! Academy AMAZING design. Phenomenal brass. Love it. Spirit...I'm new to drum corps (relatively) so I've only seen JSU version of spirit. This years show rocks.
  9. <rant> No offense to open class corps. But looks like there wouldn't be too much excitement for those championships... But hey with the new format there might be an open class corps in world class finals. Just wondering, would you say the same if Cadets, Cavaliers, etc were in the same financial/limited tour schedule as Academy? </rant>
  10. This was the centerstage show. Hornlie is split up because of the volume in the venue: we're already loud enough with only a few playing. This year we're fielding 74 brass memos the other 9 are alternates. The repetition of three has nothing to do with the show. It will probably be explained when the description and photos are officially released tomorrow or Monday.
  11. Wondering.....what if I made a DCP iPhone app.

Have you checked out mobile.drumcorpsplanet.com? :)

Also, look for IPB - they have an app that will let you access the site that way (though it's ... exactly the same as the mobile site Bawker listed...)

Just go directly to the site with your mobile browser - and you'll see an optimized version of the site. Best part - it doesn't require an iPhone. Works in most mobile browsers.

  12. Still short $200 dollars for tor....10 days until move-ins..ugh.

  13. The Academy- (Re)- Little Fugue in Gminor, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Lux Aurumque-Whitacre. Lollapalooza-Adams Colts- Show title- "Notorious".
  14. I'm a rookie this year in a world class group, and I'm looking forward to going on tour this summer. I was wondering if any of you battle-hardened vets had any advice for on tour that might increase my chances of survival this summer?
  15. Realistically? Bluecoats or Crown would be one of the next winners. But who I would really like to see win next is Boston.
  16. Not marching because of financial erasons....well that's no reason not to march. I had absolutely nothing at the beginning of the season to put in. I've raised about half of my fees by working my tail off (2 or 3 car washes a month, including one planned for morning of prom next week), multiple fundraising nights at restaurants, ticket sales. Being 16 years old and in about 12 performing groups and multiple after school activities, as well as school, if I can raise the money than anyone an when they put their minds to it. No excuses thar.
  17. I thought it was mid August, guess I lose track of time. :P It's too bad INT's not on the list. can't wait to hear what they're doing, but we all know how they like to keep the crowd held in anticipation.
  18. Quite a few band kids at my school are people who have switched from football over to band, because they like it better I guess. Kinda interesting.
  19. Thanks so much! Also I am currently selling tickets for the Mesa, Az show. Lineup: Academy, BK, BD, Cadets, Phantom Regiment, SCV and Revolution. June 22....email me at tnrbandgeek@yahoo.com if you would like an order form, tickets are $10-$30
  20. See above. Him or Stay Puft marshmallow man from Ghostbusters, that's be a comfy pillow.
  21. The design is good but I don't like the overpowering use of electronics in this thread.
  22. mmm.....multi million dollar contracts.....I'd march anywhere for one of those
  23. It has a chance, but we won't know for sure if it can go all the way for a couple weeks.
  24. Best Mellos- Bk. Best Tpts Madison. Contras Bloo. Best soloist, Regiment's flugel, hands down. Drill design goes to Cavs and arrangement goes to Crown. Drumline I know nothing about, cymbals, Academy, SCV's is losing their style and are less clean than previous years...by a lot.
