  1. What percentage of callbacks typically show up at the next camp? Therein may lie part of the answer. (I honestly don't know ... but it could be the same reason airlines routinely overbook flights ... because it is reasonably likely that not everyone who bought a ticket actually shows up.)
  2. No ... YEA is doing this so they have enough funds and assets to EXIST.
  3. "...and should be comfortable with not spinning any other traditional equipment during the show." Kind of a curious request --- "we want you as long as you don't spin this...."
  4. The promo never explicitly states that it is about Joan of Arc. A lot of people making a lot of assumptions. Could be Joan Rivers. Joan Lunden. Joan Collins. Just a show about mad women who happen to be named Joan. There have certainly been dumber show ideas that have made it to the field, so why not? šŸ˜
  5. Many forget that Red Violin mini-fiasco in 2009, right on the heels of winning it all in '08. That show had major rewrites all season long, if memory serves. Shaw and Rennick were in the trenches for that one, too... don't know who dreamt that program up, but no one is immune to a clunker now and then...
  6. You'd be surprised how many businesses are really just one corner of someone's dining room table.
  7. For sale: the ugliest drum wraps in all Christendom. Plentiful stock, name your price. Contact Phantom Regiment, Rockford Illinois.
  8. Absolutely spot on. What's it all about anyway, making art or "fulfilling compulsory expectations"?
  9. Boston marching a horn hole .... last formation reads "Fuund"
  10. Really, that many? I see a few other holes, but wouldn't have guessed that many. Hope they are on the mend
  11. Cadets missing a tenor and a couple of tubas. Illness in the corps?
  12. You think that's long? Reminiscing here about DCI Midwest back in the day (80s) ... prelims start at 8am, go almost non-stop until 4-5pm ... all out in the hot sun... then finals start at 7:30pm... top 12 ... then full retreat ... then encore ... all in one day. Yes, it was a bit of overload, but I remember not getting bored or distracted either. Good times.
  13. Best vocal integration and PURPOSE in any drum corps show ever. Don't care if this comes in 1st or 5th, they are musically and stylistically spot on. Everything just feels natural and in the groove.
  14. Completely agree. After the big "rocker" section, the rest of the show just feels 'tacked on' to me. Needs a big closer, mind you, but this one feels detached.
  15. I mean, c'mon. Really you can't tell? Just listen to them, man
