  1. I'm not a professional musician, but to my ear, the electronic bass sound that is so pervasive, almost eliminates the Contra/Tuba dynamic...Also, I've noticed more help being given to other brass sections, particularly at points of crescendo...The keytar player from Bloo ( as good as he was) often overshadowed some of the brass statements .If that was what was intended, mission accomplished but I miss the pure brassiness unadulterated..However, when electronics are used discreetly, it definitely adds to my listening experience, like the celloist from F Troop..all the above is just my opinion..peace
  2. I got it..it was kinda funny picturing 70 yr olds like myself, doing 200bpm on a football field..Your enthusiasm for that period of Cadet history is admirable..Peace
  3. Dear Boston Crusaders: Thank you for providing a summer of competitive entertainment, resulting in your silver medal..Though it's been a long time coming, I'm sure current and alumni BAC members see this as the fulfillment of a blood, sweat and tears journey that can only be exceeded by a Gold medal in the near future...Keep striving towards excellence ..I never won anything in drum corps beyond a small circuit championship Eons ago, so I will live vicariously through your achievement until next season...At that point I'll root against you(Cadet Fan)...lol....peace
  4. And you've made it successfully to DCP years later..Talk about beating the odds...lol...peace
  5. Until you mentioned it, I almost forgot the Crossmen in 1992..That early 90's corps played very accessible music and their ending that year with the question mark was a tear jerker..I remember seeing a video from that year, where the audience went bonkers when they realized the form (?) that the Crossmen ended their show with..peace
  6. I think the Cadets at Allentown 2018 had a sustained applause from the Z pull to the end and then some . I think the feeling at the time was a reaction to the GH situation and the fact that the Cadets were still alive..I don't know how long the ovation was but we(my family) were on our feet for at least a minute and left the show optimistic that the next year would be even better...Well, you know what happened in 2019.The only Cadet show I can't watch again...peace
  7. As a bi-product of the the innovative movement in drum corps, comes the " Where do I look now" peripheral stare, that leaves you dry eyed and exhausted...I notice this affect particularly prevalent when you puff puff pass, before a show..peace
  8. Can't speak for anyone but myself, but I hear "Right hear Right now" everywhere on T.V. in one iteration or another..It's weird. I never paid much attention to that phrase but now I expect to hear it everywhere...Thanks Crown for ruining my subliminal summer..lol
  9. Based on a quick google search, there are appoximately 27 dome stadiums in the USA that hold more than 10,000 people..Most in warm or severe weather locations...unfortunately as has been mentioned, Syracuse N.Y. is not ideal for drum corps..Basketball yes drum corps no.
  10. Pennsylvania is huge.. not Texas or Alaska huge, but huge nonetheless..Takes me almost two hours from New York City to Allentown so from Allentown to Pittsburg is another 6 hours?..just too far for one show imho.
  11. This is the 21st century, yes?..So with all the technological developments since time began, my drum corps family( all you guys) can,t take a #### in fear of missing their favorite corps after spending ( in many cases) their yearly travel budget, on D.C.I..I have no knowledge of the D.C.I. negotiations for LOS or the physical limitations of LOS..But NO fan should have to decide between going to nature vs. watching the event they paid dearly to see...just my opinion..peace
  12. Best two ballads: Theme from To kill a Mockingbird(Cadets) and Moon River(BD)..imho
  13. Congrats BAC on a great season..May your efforts towards excellence continue..peace
  14. Somewhat off topic: Is the recorded female voice at the beginning of Crown's show(British) a famous or well known British actor?..I ask because I was awakened by a commercial for a steamship line whose voice over sounded REAL CLOSE to Crown's female voice..just curious..BTW congrats to all the performers tonight..Drum Corps is Great..peace
  15. Congratulations Blue Devils...you're simply the BEST...peace
  16. Never thought that Cadets could rebound to the point of serious competitive contention this quickly..After 2019 and all the events that led to the infamous removal of he who shall not be mentioned, I thought that the Cadets might be caught in a downward spiral, not expected to be great again...To my pleasant surprise, the Cadets have exceeded my expectations and are again a top notch drum corps..Tonight's show, highlighted by that beautiful ballad played with such class, made my day..Thanks again Cadets..Keep on pushing.
  17. My bad..I forgot about BD catching and passing Bloo during the season..Seems so long ago..But other than over confidence I can't see BD losing..peace
  18. I recall 2019 and the Bluecoats run up to finals..I thought then that the only thing that could spoil their championship aspirations, would be HUBRIS..Not that Bluecoats felt that way or anyone else for that matter, but When you've won all season, the expectation for that to continue can be daunting..So, if BD does as BD does, they should win but if the slightest bit of "Hubris" enters their psyche, taking for granted the hard working competition, then maybe as in 2019 the corps with the most wins doesn't win...imo..peace
  19. My five: 1) Cadets 2) Crown 3)BAC 4) BD 5)Troopers(The cellist was an unexpected bonus)..covid denied us of a full corps for much of the season but their potential is outstanding ...imo..peace
