  1. Were these corps with incomplete shows onthe field for 10 minutes? If so then they met the minimum requirement for a complete show. No where in the rules does it say youhave to move at all ordo anything more thanstandstill and play music. Although doing that will hurt your score but unless you are on the field for less than10 minutes the no penalty is required
  2. They played it a couple times in the 70's and it was also the corps song in the 70's. it kinda faded out during the middle years corps after folding in 1979. then in 1988 autumn leaves became the corps song.
  3. it's the same shoulder as last year just white instead of light blue and tilted.
  4. it's interesting how people complain about the new trends in uniforms and wish things would go back to the old style, then complain about the length of the bluecoats jackets, when in fact this uniform was designed to look similar to the original bluecoats uniform worn from 1974-1978 and can be seen on the left of this picture showing our uniforms through the years.
  5. Normally the horn line wears the strap under the chin so it won't interfere with their mouthpieces while playing, but the drum line wears the strap across the chin (or in the mouth) since there's no mouthpiece to interfere with and it looks cooler.
  6. Also the Bluecoats Alumni Group Rythym in Blue will be performing a few tunes at the beginning of the show. I believe the rep is Creep, Bridge over Troubled Water/The Boxer, and autumn Leaves for this performance. Make sure you are there early to see this innaugural performance of RiB.
  7. in 1990 one of the Bluecoats keyboard players wrote the pit book for limited edition. She did this while she was still a member of the bluecoats, and she also won the keyboard I&E competition and got the highest score in I&E.
  8. The Bluecoats have just spent the last few days making changes. hopefully this will propel them up over phantom and maybe even SCV
  9. Les Eclipses 1984 was also busted for marching over age members.
  10. mine - roughly based on relative spreads 1. Cadets 84.70 2. Crown 84.60 3. BD 83.80 4. SCV 81.5 5. Bluecoats 80.30 6. Phantom 80.0 7. Boston Crusaders 76.40 8. Scouts 76.25 9. 11. if you are referring to Criminal that was 2007 2008 was the Knockout show which also used some narration to good effect during the drum solo training section.
  12. everyone should make sure to give Coastal surge a huge ovation welcoming them into the world of DCI
  13. it will be someone out west because of, you know, the inflation :rolleyes:/>/>/>
  14. eh - I'll be impressed if they clean it, until then it just looks messy
  15. from what I've heard from someone i know who watched cavies rehearsal. their show is moving in the right direction to get them back on top, but not quite there yet. Drill is still an issue and they will probably not be in the top 5 again this season. This is what he said, and I trust the source as very knowledgable.
  16. the longer plume makes them look taller - I personally never liked the short squat plume Cadets used for that exact reason. the long plume adds height
  17. what about boston - their uniform, other than that they dropped the black backs, is basically the same design they had in the 80s and probably earlier
  18. fake tribal tattoos on the guards legs and arms - interesting
  19. since every member in the musical part of the corps will be wearing them they are correctly called a uniform since they will be a uniform look from member to member. just because they don't look like military uniforms doesn't mean they are not uniforms. Uniform is just a term to denote that all members wear the same thing or in essence look uniform.
  20. there's a difference between a corps making you stand up with an incredible performance and people standing up to stratch as a corps leaves the field. I clap for all corps and will stand between shows because usually the seats are so #### uncomfortable at most stadiums.
  21. here's the show announcement link http://www.spiritdrumcorps.org/component/content/article/1-latest/504-2013-show-announcement and the info... Down dark alleys and into secret back rooms, those in-the-know went to where jazz, overflowing glasses, and the latest dance crazes defined America’s new attitude of celebration - the SPEAKEASY! The sensational flapper became the symbol of the new wild and wonderful vitality of the 1920's. The roar inside the Speakeasy was loud and unstoppable as America pulsed to an untamed sound! 2013 Repertoire Concerto in F by Gershwin Crazy World by Mancini Overture from Chicago, by Ebb and Kander Solace by Joplin Songs for Simon by Psathas Sweet Georgia Brown" by Bernie, Pinkard and Casey Symphony #1 by Creston
  22. when we first made finals in 1987 we had brothers who bookended our snare line. they were 14 and 15 yrs old.
  23. r snare side head is less flimsy and won't get damaged/break as easily during the rigors of tour.
  24. does anyone know why the phantom drumline sashes don't have the silver/mirror squares on them like the horn line guy's picture?
