  1. I'm calling conspiracy if all of the G8 corps (this year) scores go up and noone else did... lOl
  2. So Boston is the first corps to increase in score from semis to finals...and Crown wins brass! WOOT!
  3. So far, everyone's score is lower than semis...
  4. Make sure you read my "about me" info while you are here. It may change your life!

Never mind. DCP is anti-religious, apparently. Doesn't surprise me. They deleted all of my "about me" info without my consent or even letting me know. There will always be people who try to repress the word of God.

  5. I don't have a real problem with you thinking this way, but I am pretty shocked that you DO think this way. Something different? Upside-down playing/conducting is not different? Have you seen their guard uniforms? That's not hideous...er...I mean different? The weird show in general...that's not...you get the point. I love what the Cavies do. Only thing I dislike in their show is the electronic samples which sound like garbage to me. But you can make the same argument with Cavies as you can with the Blue Devils. Why change a winning formula? That being said, I still stick to my original thought, which was: I think there are enough different things in this year's Cavaliers show to differentiate it from last year's show and every other show they have done, in fact. I never once thought of 007 or Machine during their show this year. Maybe Samurai because they added the jump over move in the end drill, but that is it (and that is awesome.)
  6. No, the theaters do not set the price. I run a movie theater downtown here in Oklahoma, and I can tell you (and it's like this with ALL theaters) that we don't make much money at all on the ticket sales. Most of that goes to the studios and to pay the actors, etc. Our money comes from the concession stand, which is why you see high prices at many theaters for concessions. It's just the way it works.
  7. Um, I think you just made my point yet again. I agree, BD's theme is not clear at all. The real question here though is this: Do we even NEED themes? Why does EVERY SINGLE CORPS feel like they have to have a theme? What happened to the old days where the corps just played music and marched? Always worked for me... Yes, I know, I am a dinosaur and blah, blah blah...
  8. Well, "bringing you back" kinda implies that you were going to leave and I have only felt like leaving drumcorps behind for the last 3 years or so. So with that said, what "brought me back" each year? 2008: Phantom Regiment's "Spartacus" show. One of the greatest drumcorps moments of all time, as far as I'm concerned. 2009: Carolina Crown's "The grass is always greener" This was really a "down" year for me, and this show barely got me to stick around and see if anything good would come out of DCI. 2010: 3-way Tie: Carolina Crown's "A second Chance" The music in this show was just awesome. I loved every minute of it. Blue Stars' "Houdini" Great, great show with SO much GE and just entertaining as all get out. I am biased because I am a magician. Phantom Regiment's "Into the light" Great show musically and visually. Man, that was some monster drill! Just beautiful. This year is actually BETTER than last year! I am amazed. I was just about to completely "throw in the towel" due to all the electronic crap out there, but I'm still here, for now. I'm still very skeptical, but optimistic at the same time. I want to love this activity again, but it will all depend on what the future holds. Oh and as far as 2011? Carolina Crown's "Rach Star" show is just amazingly awesome! It by itself would be enough to bring me back next year, so I guess I'll be here another year...
  9. I am VERY familiar with Romeo and Juliet and I think you made my point for me. The high brass and low brass are supposed to represent the two families? Really? And I was supposed to know this how? Because of the crest on their uniforms? They ALL have the SAME crest! And I "got" the moon and sun sets, but again, if you didn't know the title of their show, you would be pretty clueless as to what the theme was. I stand by my original statements. Again, I love this show, and now hopefully, your explaining some of these things will help me to enjoy the show even more, so I thank you. But it's FAR from obvious what the theme is (without the title.)
  10. I really wish they would stream finals live, this year especially. I will have to work Thursday and Friday nights, so watching Quarters or Semis is totally out. Oh well...at least I will have finals the next day via VOD since I pre-ordered the blurays...
  11. I think it's funny how people have counted Crown out of it, but I understand why. It's a big gap to cover for them in order to take it all. Still, I would love to see it, but I voted for Cadets since I think that's what's going to ACTUALLY happen. I would be happy with Cadets, Crown, or Cavies winning it. All have great, entertaining shows.
  12. I think it is a terrible idea to have the demons win. One of the reasons people love this show is because good conquers evil. If you have the demons win, I think it will create a very negative effect with the audience. Besides, it would be very unrealistic. Satan will NEVER beat God's forces. It is already predetermined. Every knee shall bow.
  13. Best: Crown: Easily the most entertaining show of the year for me and many others. The theme is played out SO well, and the rock and classical are masterfully integrated together. The visual, while certainly not the "best" is very entertaining and fits the mood of the music at all times. Cavaliers: They have the best drill design of any corps out there, easily (yes, even Cadets.) and the theme is pretty apparent at all times and the show is just flat-out entertaining. Now if they would only do away with those awful nature boy synthesized samples... Cadets: It's pretty obvious what the theme is from the start, and the visual is very interesting (though I think their visual is not executed nearly at the level of Cavies.) The music is their weakness, imo. It just doesn't do that much for me. There are many times in the music where not a lot is really going on. It feels like too much transtiion in many places. Still, I love this show anyway, and would be okay with them winning (though I'd rather see Crown take it all.) Worst: Santa Clara Vanguard: Wow, I can't believe what a difference a year makes! I LOVED their show last year, but this year, I really, really strongly dislike it (don't use the "H" word...) This show is full of awful music and boring visuals. If you didn't know the title of the show, you would have NO idea what the theme was. Just terrible. It's too bad. I feel the same about this year's SCV show as I did about last year's Blue Devils show... Bluecoats: What is the theme again? Exactly how is it portrayed in the show? This show starts out awesome with "Creep", then turns into the 2010 show, version 2.0 The music just doesn't hold my interest like it did last year (which was awesome.) The visual is pretty uninteresting, other than the opening intro (again.) I hope they can put some magic into this thing and really step it up for finals week. Phantom Regiment (runner-up): REALLY? Phantom? Well, they are only listed here because the theme is NOT clear at all in their show. I have watched this show about a million times. I LOVE the music AND the visual. My problem comes from the theme. They don't sell this theme at all. Okay, you have a guard member walk up the podium in the end and hold a dagger up to herself as if she is going to kill herself in the end. Why? Where are the other story elements? I must have missed them, and missed them every single time I've watched their show (including live!) I really love this show, but as far as design goes, it has to get an honorable mention for worst (for now...) because again, if you didn't know the title of the show, you would have NO IDEA what the theme is. Okay, I'm gonna go watch this show again on the fan network (because I love it, bad design and all!)
  14. I LOVED the new ending! MUCH better than the old one, imo. It just fits better and is way more exciting for me. And don't be so harsh about people yelling during a show like this. I yelled "FREEBIRD!!" at the top of my lungs during the "crown" formation near the end in Denton, Texas and I don't regret it one bit. They WANT you to be involved in the show, and I highly doubt that I "ruined" the whole show for anybody because of a two-second yell. Besides, I heard that the corps wanted people to yell "freebird" at that point anyway. But what do I know?
  15. I absolutely LOVE the new ending. MUCH better than the old BR ending, imo. I too thought at the beginning of the season, "They need to CLOSE the show with Bohemian Rhapsody..." and thought it was kinda cool when they added it in the encore, but it just didn't seem to work that well or sound right for some reason. This ending seems to "fit" much better, and is WAAAY more exciting to me. I love it, guard tosses over the dismantled towers and all.
  16. I couldn't agree with you more, though these samples aren't quite enough for me to call the show a "bust". These sampled moments just make me grate my teeth and cringe. They are so awful, I just can't understand why the designers (and some on this board) think they are just great/wonderful. It really boggles my mind. If they took these out of their show, this show would easily be my second-favorite show this year.
  17. Gee, thanks for that "helpful" little comment. For your information, I DID search for it, but did not see it (until just now, before coming back here.) Anyway, the issue has already been resolved, so it's a moot point.
  18. Ok, since nobody seems to be getting this, I will explain it. IT'S A JOKE!! Dunder Mifflin, "The Office" on NBC...Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute...anyone? anyone? Bueller?....
