  1. As long as he gets back to drill instead of monkey bars and cages.
  2. Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Hint, hint: Somewhere over the rainbow Anniversary show Signature moves, self-referential. (a la Blue Devils "Metamorph", Cadets "Shall Always Be". Definitely explains the hats.
  3. I love the "Opus 89" reference to Cadets current anniversary year. I'm sensing a reference to longevity/immortality to individuals and organizations such as Cadets, Black Dyke Band, superheroes?
  4. You need enough to drown out the low-end synth at the end of each production! I would feel cheated as a contra (tuba today).
  5. I'll go out on a limb and guess BOTH with a hint of red somewhere.
  6. I used to draw those geometry 3-D cubes and pyramids on my book covers in junior high school trying to imagine '60's era drum corps putting those shapes on the field. Thank you Crown.
  7. I believe that "Flo" has changed judging considerably. As someone who has "dabbled" in pageantry judging, consider the degree to which a new aspiring judge would tend to have short commiserating conversations with colleagues BITD. With Flo, I am fairly certain that judges watch what we watch throughout the season to re-evaluate their scoring and compare it their judging peers/mentors. Can you tell me honestly that you would not watch Flo between your judging assignments?
  8. It really helped Avon High School Winds that they decided to load up the Dayton Arena with their hometown "fans".
  9. From my viewpoint and ears sitting in the endzone stands in Dallas in 1971, I thought that the reverse happened the year earlier. (Phasing in Saber Dance?)
  10. DCX - Drum Corps Xperience (dcxmuseum.org)

  12. They did the Bottle Dance as part of the concert medley in 1972. 1971 was a Fiddler medley without a bottle dance but they had a nice soprano soloist for "Matchmaker" by the name of Wayne Downey.
  13. FYI.. Right now 4/13/2023. Free Flomarching of WGI Prelims on YouTube.
  14. I will be there. That will also be the first BK vs Troop matchup because Troop is heading East and BK is heading West for first tour.
  15. For me, it all relates to the awesomeness of symmetry and unison which is what makes my jaw drop all the time. Diversity of appearance detracts from that enjoyment whether it be with hair styles, solo incongruent dancing out-of-step, scatter movements, jumping out-of-character to lean over and push props around, etc. Headgear was part of the glue along with the uniform to diminish the individual differences to present a cohesive vision. I even remember snarelines often being established by members height. There is no coincidence that Ralph and Tom marched together as center snares. Phrases like "The Green Machine" reference the ideal of creating "out of many, one".
  16. I would prefer to watch and hear drum corps in an open-roofed Lucas Oil Stadium. How much notice would be needed to make a call for an open roof event if the weather looks good before events. 24 hours?, 48 hours?, 72 hours? What would be the cost to request having the roof opened and/or closed? When Lucas Oil was first announced many years ago, I assumed that DCI could hold open-roofed events. The Colts organization has been able to make that decision from time to time.
  17. I looked her up on YouTube and Wikipedia. Lots of actress and singing credentials but I'm curious. Did she march? Where and when?
  18. Your arguments make sense. Obviously, not a very OPTIMISTIC prognosis.
  19. Schlitterbahn + Buc-ees + Vanguard sounds like heaven to me.
  20. I checked out both movies for free from my local library. (Hateful 9 & Once Upon a Time in the West)
  21. I'm guessing this is the ballad: (Probably starting around 2 min. mark, especially French horns around 4:45)
