Triple Forte
So.....not to incredibly long ago (The shirt came out in 1990) I was able to find and buy this drum corps classic t-shirt in 1991 from the Bluecoats, #note...I typed this exactly how it is written on the shirt Front of shirt: Why Drum Corps is BETTER than Marching Band Back of shirt: Drill Movement, Drill Movement, Drill Movement !!! Lead Sopranos pass out after the show Nobody cares what you look like after 10 hours on the bus No cheerleaders on bus trips You can take your shirt off and tan without fear of frostbite Hairspray reduced by 75% without majorettes & pompon girls Cold showers are proven to increase sexual potency NO CLARINETS Flags and Rifles become airborne Retreats and finales take less time than pregame ceremonies Instead of playing New York, New York you get to visit it Drum Instructors are actually drummers Don't have to go home with your parents after the show SPANDEX !!! "CONTRA" sounds sexier than "TUBA" Drum Major salutes take half the time as a field director Older girls/Older guys (your choice) Won't get an "F" if you call the director by his first name Crowd response doesn't depend on how well 22 steroid-induced guys throw around a dead carcass Boy.....have times changed Edited November 6, 2008 by Triple Forte
Fievel
I thought you were going to reference the Sky Ryders' "Don't Drink & Drum" shirt. Edited November 6, 2008 by Fievel
Gene Bennett3rd
My favorite drum corps shirt was sold by Jersey Surf and it read: IF DRUM CORPS WERE EASY, EVERYBODY WOULD DO IT (and they would call it BAND)
Elmo Blatch
(sigh) I remember that...and it has been nearly 20 years. I have an idea. How cool would it be to have a retro drum corps booth at the show? Recently, my wife and I stopped at a retro clothing store in Savannah, Georgia. We had a blast. A few years ago, I went to a corps rehearsal and gave away about 10 vintage shirts. As you can imagine, they were gobbled up quickly.
