4181jay
Since I sense a lot of bitterness in this thread... everyone take a look at the "I love DCI" thread... and post what you love about current day junior corps. 30 pages on the 'what bugs you ' thread, 2 pages on the ' whats good' thread. Seems the powers that be know what they're doing after all!!!!
MikeD
Wait a minute... Mike and I agree on something? What's goin' on here??? Must be an atmospheric anomaly.
CT-Horn
Yawn.DCI Countdown 2009= a chance for high school bandos to scream I am Spartacus in a movie theatre. and a chance for Bandos to yell, "we played that first" Nice Job DCI, I'm wondering if the same 7 people will be showing up in Syracuse again this year. AlexL
I just wish theyd go back to the format with more shows they had until last year. Having more shows with a 1 per corps limit would increase variety.
BlueShades152
I guess my biggest issue with this is the fact that there are only 6 shows instead of 12, like they used to have. The final selections are great and it will be a good show, but why not show the whole top 12? That way we could still see Crossmen, Madison Scouts, Blue Stars, and others that we don't usually get to see on the big screen. Either way, I'm still looking forward to a great show in theaters! Matt_S
I agree with that. Limiting it to six shows all but guarantees that we're going to see some variation on the current top seven corps, and this time around only the Cadets got left out. Now, 2008 Phantom Regiment 2004 Cavaliers 2007 Carolina Crown 2004 Santa Clara Vanguard 2006 Blue Devils 2007 Bluecoats Does this send any type of message to Hopkins, or does he just blow it off?? Matt_S
What message would that be? 2005 Cadets still received over 1700 votes of support in the first round of polling, and over 4600 in the second round, finishing 11th and 8th, respectively. If there's a message there, it says to me that people liked the show, they just liked a small handful of other shows a little more.
BlueShades152
I also found it interesting that The Cadets also beat out Blue Devils 06 and Bluecoats 07, both which made the final top six, in round one. One of the top 7 had to be left out, which is why I wish they could have just done the top 12. In my opinion, the "top 7" all had fantastic shows and it was very hard deciding on which ones to vote for. The other 5 finalists I felt also had great shows and I would have loved to have seen those on the big screen as well. But what we have is better than nothing. There's nothing like being in a theater with a bunch of other drum corps fans. It's just a great atmosphere, even if we have seen some of the shows on the big screen before.
