The video trailer is up on the Blue Stars' facebook page.

The 2009 Blue Stars is pleased to present its 2009 production, "The Factory." The corps will explore the life, sounds, imagery, and experiences of 1940s era factory workers and the people often described as our Greatest Generation.

The people of this time in American life are defined by an indomitable spirit of duty, honor, and country. World War II was raging on two fronts, displacing artists and intellectuals from throughout the world, bringing new ideas forged in disillusionment. Rosie the Riveter became a symbol of female patriotism as men went off to war and women streamed into factories to work on assembly lines.

Ultimately these events changed and defined life in America completely. Women had experienced life away from the traditional role of homemaker; African-Americans would no longer accept second status and began the march to equality; the GI Bill allowed more men than ever before to achieve a college education. As a result, this time period challenged the traditional roles of individuals and inspired a new age of personal expression.

The Blue Stars are looking forward to bringing the sights, sounds, and imagery of "The Factory" to the field in 2009.

. . .original music, or other tunes?

This could be cool, especially if there's a swing section a la Cadets 2002. :big hug:

original music, though I believe the music playing at the beginning is the preshow

and I wouldn't get your hopes up on a swing section, just my prediction. Doesn't seem to be the Blue Stars style so much. But I could be wrong =)

Oh, well.

As long as there aren't voice overs about "the grand American spirit. etc" . . .

Agreed. I could imagine some electronics being put to use what with the potential to use all sorts of factory sounds, though it'd be cool if they could pull it all off acoustically, kind of cavies 06 esque. Either way I'm excited to see the show. Maybe not as great an initial impression as I got from last years concept, but the design team they have in place seems to really work well together.

Well, my reaction to last year's announcement of "Le Tour" was "meh" as well, but that turned out pretty cool. Hopefully this year's show will prove as engaging as last year's.

Meh.

kind of seen this before.

Cadets 1995.

not very innovative.

I don't know. The video aside, the description makes it sound like it'll be more like Machine (Cavies 06) than a World War 2 show. And especially with Kevin Ford writing the drill, that feels the direction they'd go with this.

Did anyone else get that vibe?
