Gmello99
Glassmen play with the Toledo Symphony almost every year, and I know for a fact that they play at the Toledo Zoo once every summer. Local stuff but way different than the DCI shows. Edited March 8, 2009 by Gmello99
jjeffeory
I wonder if a casino would be willing to do this? I'd be very interested in gambling on drum corps. Too subjective. If you know the lineup, you know who is likely to win.
Tom Brace
What you say makes little sense to me, since the DCI schedule is determined by the corps directors themselves. Once again, it's a case of people confusing DCI for some nondescript office in the middle of nowhere, dictating how things will be. In reality, DCI is nothing more than a marketing company, based in Indianapolis, with a head honcho directly accountable to the corps directors and a few other guys. DING DING DING!!!!!!!!! We have a winner!!!!!!
BlooContraGuy
I really like what these guys are trying to start and I hope it works out! Fan friendly judging systems for the win.
CrunchyTenor
POST SHOW PARTY AT GARRY'S HOUSE!!*oh yeah....Jan'll LOVE that!* Find it kinda amusing the production company's name is "Danny Boy Productions" and it's made up of BD and SCV vets....you'd think there's be ONE guy from 27th in there! There's no room for a post show party at my house. Besides, with all the entertainment available in Vegas, you want to hang out at my house? We lives miles from Sam Boyd Stadium and The Strip. Regarding the name, I'm pretty sure it's taken from Dan Vanatta. (We need a smiley for "Captain Obvious") Garry in Vegas
EndzoneEric
I really like what these guys are trying to start and I hope it works out!Fan friendly judging systems for the win. Is Sam Boyd Stadium indoors? I sure hope so... or it may be "sitting the desert heat for the fail."
CrunchyTenor
Is Sam Boyd Stadium indoors? I sure hope so... or it may be "sitting the desert heat for the fail." Outdoors, but quite cozy. The home side is on the west side of the stadium, so a night show would have the sun behind the stands...and right in the early performing corps' faces. Sam Boyd Stadium I could use the cliche "it's a dry heat", but I'd still rather be in 100F+ heat at 10-15% humidity than Florida at 95F and 95%. Peel Paint
If you're from the east or north, and tell people you're going to Vegas in the summer, they look at you like you're out of your mind. A high temperature of 107 and low of 82 is not uncommon. But we've gone, and it's not bad at all, as long as you use common sense, which means, keep yourself well hydrated with lots of healthy fluids, wear sunscreen, and minimize sun exposure. I'd also much rather be in the desert for drum corps than in the Miami to Houston belt.

jonnyboy
I like the idea of fan voting. I would love to see DCI do something like this. The only problem is that you text your vote after the show. This means that many people that like to miss the first few corps will most likely not vote for them. What if a judge hung out in the parking lot for the first two corps and only judged the last three? I think fans should get a ballot when they enter the stadium. After the first corps starts ballots are no longer handed out. Still an honor system, but ask that only fans that saw all performing corps to vote. Possibly fans could text a score after each corps, and the scores could be averaged? Just a thought.
