Horizon
OK> No way that panel is right. They have judges in totally wrong spots. And it's a different panel from what was listed as the people judging tonight. Weird. Wow, Phantom 7th in brass and 4th in percussion. That is proof of you are judged where your placement is, now way they would have been that low if they were a top 5 scoring corps right now. Oh DCI judging... No kidding? They wouldn't be that low if they were scoring higher? Is that how it works?
DcFr3aK
The recaps show that Cascades got 22nd in a couple captions...now, I didn't think they were worse then a corps that wasn't even there!
chimchim
I'm in the camp of "it's pretty much over." BD sweeping the captions makes this very different than last year, when Phantom was taking high drums night after night, had a brass line that was clearly #1 or #2, and had a hyper-emotional show that was getting extraordinary audience response. It's hard to come up with a likely scenario that sees BD losing their lead this year.

Yeah, it kind of goes without saying that if they were in the top 5 they'd be getting better scores in brass and percussion...because better scores in brass and percussion would help get them into the top 5 in the first place. One of the reason they're NOT in the top 5 (yet) is due to those scores...but notice that they got 8th place overall, yet scored 7th in barss and 4th in percussion. It's not the like the respective judges decided that to justify Phantom being in 8th they would score them as 8th place in those captions. corps8294
Where did the Blue Stars place in percussion? I have an old OS, so I'm not able to see the recaps on the DCI page.

drewiepoo2
Well there are good reasons to not like BD this year. But they are doing what they have to do to win. I do have to say however, every year I am becoming less and less of a BD fan.#1 their visual program, while flawless, is incredibly easy compared to all of the other corps in the top 5 (or some would say top 15). That gives them license to sound better because they do not move as much or as hard as everyone else. #2 They have a VERY well thought out concept with little holes in the design. This will either be a key to victory, or lead them down the path of peaking early. #3 they do not have the percussion problems they had last year. Do not forget that if BD had a top 3 Drum Line, they would have won. #4 instead of taking a big risk in drill design, or abstract concepts, it almost feels like they are distracting the judges with those chairs. It makes it seem like they are developing an innovative design concept while in turn allowing them to make things look more difficult while being ridiculously easy. In 35 years DCI has had only 8 different champions (6 active) its time to have our first new champion since 96, and our first sole new champion since 92 try 2008
gbell211
Umm... Try the last 30 years... That is their sound, it fits what their original jazz style was and supposedly still is. Very lead trumpet/big bandy sounding. Very true!
geluf
The recaps show that Cascades got 22nd in a couple captions...now, I didn't think they were worse then a corps that wasn't even there! The captions that happened in have an error...Revolution's score is being counted.
