A little BD love

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this has been brought up, and I'm even a little scare to mention it, but why isn't BD getting criticized for not playing for 2 solid minutes straight of their show? I honestly don't know what to think about it, and I haven't studied the drill well enough to make a decision on if it's harder because of the lack of playing, but has anyone mentioned it?

Don't kill me.

Yea, I noticed... It's BD silly. No one cares.

People have this thing about "BD makes it look easy." Yes, they do. They are very mature, they have an extremely confident air about their movement, and they aren't about freneticism. I think this is a good thing.

Being a virtuoso is about making the very difficult seem effortless.

You're right. Some people do have this thing about Blue Devils' shows being easier than others. But Blue Devils have long attracted highly talented performers and have given them instruction that makes the difficult only look effortless. That's Box 5 to the judges.

Thank you for this topic. I think most BD fans (including myself) really appreciate it especially since BD's fan base is clearly the least represented on this site. Like I read in another topic, I think it is true that many BD fans here tend to shy away from defending them.

They should be more like Cadets fans. :satisfied:

Congrats to the BD staff that created a formula that takes advantage of the judging system we have in place.

Most of all congrats to the kids!

BD alums tend to be the best at just ignoring blatant haters of what they do. It reflects positively on the people who run the organization. Elegant people, through and through, and it's nice to see it considering some of what they're surrounded by.

I must have missed the two minutes of absolute silence in their show. I may be losing it in my old age, but I could have sworn I heard music throughout their whole show. Maybe not between productions when the audience was applauding and such, but that only lasted a few seconds. :satisfied:

I'm just gonna say this now. If you don't get to see this show live, you have my sympathy.

Since I'm going to finals this year :satisfied:, I look forward to seeing 1930. They haven't reached me like other corps have over a computer screen, and many people say you have to see them live to understand, so we'll see. As of now, on the pace they are going at, this would be one of my least favorite championship shows.
