KeithHall
Ever been to an odd housing site? Let's hear your stories. Marion, Ohio 1973 - Stayed at the Fire Hall. Bells ringing all night long Butler, PA 1973 and 1974 - Some school on a hill with nothing around. Fog sets inearly and leaves late. Marion, OH 1972 - Closed school on a main drag. Toilets flush after you arise.

up4479
1976 On tour with 27th. We hadn't had a shower in several days. We roll up to a school in Wyoming (?) and a staff member goes in to check things out before letting the kids loose. He comes running out to the buses, "THERE'S SHOWERS!" All the doors and windows on the buses flew open and the buses were evacuated in about 15 seconds. We all run in stripping clothes as we went. A big collective "What the............? " was heard as we realized we were at an elementary school. The shower heads were waist high! We got over that pretty quick but it was hilarious to watch. bluecoats88
1988 - Twice slept outside the stadium we were performing at. 1st time in hershey after the show we slept outside the stadium but inside the stadium fenced area under the stars. 2nd time was somewhere else, I think in the south, we slept in the stadium grounds near a small utility building which some people slept inside of but it wouldn't fit the whole corps so most of us slept on the grass under the stars. Good thing it didn't rain either night.

BbTrpt1
1986 - Slept on the grass outside of Marion HS after the US Open because both our buses lost power and we were stuck. 1989 - We were housed in a sporting arena in Montreal and had to sleep on top of a hockey rink. They put a floor over the ice, but it was still pretty f-ing cold!!!!!!!!!
AlanAndreasen
1983 Marion, Ohio. OMG talk about a depressed community. The first time I ever saw houses that were leaning. Also, the same year, Miami. When the gym lights were turned on the floor moved - a buhzillion bugs and none of them small. We were warned by the cops not leave the building if we could help it. Butler, PA 86 & 87 we stayed in an old fire house (at the time functioning as an armory)no field; no showers; one toilet; one sink.
DAvery
In 1979 we stayed at Don Bosco HS in Boston. One morning they could not push one of the doors open. It seems a homeless guy died leaning up against the door during the night. At least that was what I was told, although I never saw the body. amadorj
Back in 1968 after a series of shows in Iowa they didn't have a place (school) for us to stay so we ended up staying at a 7Up Factory. The good news was that we got to drink all the soft drinks we wanted, the bad news was, there was only one bathroom for all of us (no showers). Many of the kids slept outside on top of the soda delivery trucks when a thunder storm hit that night and chased all of the us back into the warehouse. The other time (also in Iowa) we stayed at an Odd Fellows Hall. We all slept on the floor on a beer soaked carpet around the bar and pool tables. We didn't smell so great the next day.
